This was very close to being great.

The first thing you'll notice is the artstyle, which is very cute, although simple. The characters all look very cute, the environments are pretty and page composition is all great.

The story is simple and cute and the characters are fun and endearing. I enjoyed all of them, which is the problem: I just enjoyed them. I didn't love them.
The story very much relies on the emotional core, and it relies on the reader caring about the characters. Unfortunately, it's a really short story. I didn't feel like I had the time to really get to know these characters or really care about them, which makes the emotional climax fall flat.

The world also felt very unexplored, which isn't necessarily a negative, but for this story I feel like it would have helped to explore or explain more of how this world works. As it stands, without knowing this world, some of the character motivations feel rather muddled and unclear. Especially the motivation of the villain at the end.

That being said, it was a cute story, I enjoyed the characters well enough and I'm glad I read it.

Good ol' fashioned witchy fun. Would be a perfect read for spooky season.
