Very cute book, the artwork is gorgeous and that is the reason to read it. The story itself was good, though confusing in the last few pages, and I'm still not sure what happened at the end. There were also enough references adjacent to Harry Potter that it started to feel like a ripoff rather than an homage, but I understand the impulse to reference the Ancient Texts.

While I enjoyed this I wish there had been more to the story and the mystery. The overall idea of the story and plot was good, I loved the witchy vibes, the demon in the woods was a nice touch. Solving the mystery felt...too simple. And I wish it had been a little spookier as well. That being said, the reveal was nice.
