In this book, a robot named Roz gets stranded on a deserted island. She must brave the elements and befriend the island residents to make her new reality a home. Once she settles on the island, Roz faces her cryptic past. This book promotes community building.
Overall, this book is meh. I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I only read it so I could watch the movie later.

So cozy and endearing. I picked this audiobook because it was relatively short and I wanted to take a crack at the book before watching the movie; however, I was not expecting to be so attached to a robot and her gosling son. Peter Brown gave such life to this island and its cast of animal characters (special shoutout to the thespian opossum). I can't wait to read the other books in the series. Highly recommend it if you need good found family vibes. This book felt like a nice, warm blanket on a cold, dreary day - and I am not just saying that because of the impending winter storm that's hitting Houston in roughly 24 hours.

“If you stand in a forest long enough, eventually something will fall on you. And Roz had been standing in the forest long enough.” - I'm including this quote just because I chuckled when I heard it.

Excellent concept and presents tension and violent moments with a lot of care. It feels perfect for middle grade readers

I loved this book. I saw the movie trailer and was curious about the book. As a 36 year old I felt weird reading a book geared towards a younger age group.

I’m so happy I’m stubborn about reading books before seeing a movie - which I’ll finally see tomorrow!

This was a beautiful story that will have you thinking about the balance of technology and nature as well as found family and the importance of community aimed at helping each other.  I’m curious about the other books in the series and will look for adult books that may touch on the same themes.
