I absolutely loved this book and there is not enough words to describe how amazing it is. I just can't wait to read the rest of the series. Also I may or may not have cried multiple times while reading this book.

Update : I have now watched the movie I think it nice to watch and I recommend it. But I will say is that the movie does go of course from the book. Spoilers for the movie/book I guess
fink becomes pretty important in the movie while loudwing is not mentioned once i think. The bear siblings also seem to be know where in the movie. There are more things that differ from the movie and book. But i think that is enough before i get out of hand.

Also after a while of me thinking I prefer the movie but the book is still amazing.

In this book, a robot named Roz gets stranded on a deserted island. She must brave the elements and befriend the island residents to make her new reality a home. Once she settles on the island, Roz faces her cryptic past. This book promotes community building.
Overall, this book is meh. I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I only read it so I could watch the movie later.

Read this because my student recommended this to me! This was such a sweet read. :) I found Roz relatable as an autistic person reading about her sort of learning how to mask, but in a different way. I loved the bonds she formed and the community she built. I loved this sweet book so much. 💞🤖🍃🪿

So cozy and endearing. I picked this audiobook because it was relatively short and I wanted to take a crack at the book before watching the movie; however, I was not expecting to be so attached to a robot and her gosling son. Peter Brown gave such life to this island and its cast of animal characters (special shoutout to the thespian opossum). I can't wait to read the other books in the series. Highly recommend it if you need good found family vibes. This book felt like a nice, warm blanket on a cold, dreary day - and I am not just saying that because of the impending winter storm that's hitting Houston in roughly 24 hours.

“If you stand in a forest long enough, eventually something will fall on you. And Roz had been standing in the forest long enough.” - I'm including this quote just because I chuckled when I heard it.

Excellent concept and presents tension and violent moments with a lot of care. It feels perfect for middle grade readers
