The cover is so colorful it begs to be picked up. This is one of those books that balances happy and uplifting with just the right amount of sadness. Plus- it’s set in the French countryside and that is always a good thing. A quick, enjoyable read!

This was so trite, so contrived.
It’s a no from me.

I was extremely surprised at how much I enjoyed this book! This beautifully written story starts off like a light read about Jess and her son visiting Adam, her ex, but the story takes you on an emotional roller coaster as it turns to focus on illness, secrets, and grief. I appreciated the research the author did for the book, too. I also thought all the characters were well-developed/realistic and likeable which made this book even harder to put down.

Overall, a charming and touching story about love on all levels, whether it's with a partner, family, or friends. It makes you appreciate all the good you have in your life.

Though the plot was predictable in one of those far-fetched romantic drama-esque ways, I did really appreciate the general sentiment around "the secret" (which, I'll omit for the sake of spoilers).

A sweet, touching book about a woman reconnecting with her past while fretting about her future. This is sort of marketed for people who loved Jojo Moyes' "Me Before You." It didn't quite hit me in the gut the way that one did and the romance didn't feel quite as natural. But I liked the protagonist and wanted her to have a happy ending.

A cute rom-com of a book, set in the French countryside. Description-wise, this book is well written and you can imagine the beautiful setting at a chateau in France.

I struggled to really feel connected to any of the characters in this book. They often frustrated me, and didn’t seem to have much depth. Several life-altering decisions were made on a whim and without consideration for facts. This was an easy read, but one I will likely forget about soon.

3.5 stars. Light, “beach” read. Nothing too deep or unexpected but an enjoyable story.

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet. The setting of the book takes place in the French countryside and you can't help but want to be there with the characters. The story revolves around Jess and Adam and their son William. Adam has never been an ideal father, leaving shortly after his birth and only seeing him a few times a year since. Jess wants more for her son and is making one last attempt to make things right between everyone all while holding back a secret of her own. Overall, I enjoyed the premise and loved the setting, but never felt a strong connection to the characters which ultimately left me disappointed. It would make a good vacation read or a palate cleanser. 3/5🌟
