I'm not entirely sure how to rate this one, to be honest. Parts were done beautifully, while others felt rushed. One of those things with novella length books is that you are either completely entranced or so. The connection of Levi & August you felt the their need for one another, and could understand August hesitation for being older as well as someone trying to help him from a bad situation. Whereas I would have liked other parts to he more developed, but with the length of the book, I could see why they had a shorter timeline than I found to be completely believable.

This book was amazing. I meant to only read a chapter or two and before I knew it it was 6 am and I was done with the book. I could not put it down!

Levi. That poor broken boy. His life broke my heart. I was so thankful when August came into his life. I was so proud of Levi. He listened to August and did what he needed to do. August was there every step of the way. It was so beautiful. I loved every minute of this book. I aparri loved that it felt realistic. Neither of them was very well off but together they made it work.

Truly just a beautful story on so many levels. I loved it!

This was my second book from Joelle Lynne quick emotional read poor Levi went through so much in his short life thankfully he found August when he stumbles into the Knockout Gym. Levi was so sweet and shy and August was so protective of him from the start encouraging him to face his fears and start to train so he can stand up for himself , it was so good watching Levi grow into a confident guy.

Fighting for Freedom hooked me from the start, but I’m kinda on the fence about how to rate it.

I enjoyed Levi and August’s story and the angsty, gritty goodness that came with it, but their relationship was underdeveloped, and parts of the story itself felt rushed and left me wanting more. I would have loved for their story to be longer and for the pacing to have been a bit slower, but it was still a solid read!

This is the third ARC I have read in the ‘Fighting for love’ novella series set in the shared world of the Knockout Gym and omg this one (like the rest of them!) was just so so good!

19 year old Levi comes from a terrible home; his father is an alcoholic who regularly beats him and his mother. He is too afraid to leave in case his father kills his mother, but he knows he’s going to end up seriously injured or worse the longer he stays. Especially if his dad ever finds out he’s gay…

23 year old August is struggling to make ends meet. He works part-time at Knockout Gym as a self-defence teacher after having moved away from his overbearing parents. His whole world is flipped upside down when a beautiful boy with a bruised face and terror in his eyes stumbles into Knockout Gym looking for safety.

What follows is a really sweet story about two people coming together to help each other in the most dire of circumstances. Neither Levi nor August have a lot of money, but they’re both determined to be a team and help each other out.

Their almost instant co-dependence was sweet to read (and as someone who practically moved in with their first ex after experiencing trauma at home, I get it!) and I loved how open and honest they were with each other. No third act breakup, no major relationship angst - we love a happy ending 🥰

This book is out on the 21st Jan; do yourself a favour and give it a read (along with the rest of the series!) 💕 Thank you to the author for the free eARC - all opinions are my own.
