I actually enjoyed this book more than I thought I would! I'm usually more into a dark romance but this was really good for being more lighthearted and fluffy, which is funny in itself since it's all about BDSM. I dont typically go for this topic but it was explored in a way that felt meaningful and I learned alot! I see some reviews that didn't like that we met a zillion extra characters but I didn't mind because they all were really cool. I did wonder about the relationship between Michael and Leigh and thought for sure we'd see a better resolution there. Otherwise I really liked the relationship between our main characters Ange and Adam. It felt like it grew naturally and it wasn't an insta-love. It wasn't as spicy as I would have liked but maybe 3 out of 5?

The scenes are hot and very within BDSM consent guidelines, but the rest of the story was a bit annoying. I don't remember how old FMC was, but feels like too old to be acting like that. MMC was grr grr way too early on, even if that got tamed in a healthy way later lol. More importantly, WAY too much world building for a smut novel. I understand setting the scene for future books focusing on the other characters, but there were pages upon pages of what felt like random names and connections and relationships that made no sense to keep such close track of in book one.

Golden Angel sizzles! I absolutely love Angel! I have met Adam & Angel in the Masters of Marquis series but coming back to read their story was so much fun. Angel is every bit sass while never quite crossing that line to brat. This poses a great many opportunities for discipline, and Adam doesn’t hold back. Watching him come into his own and finding light and humour was fun as he came across grumpy to start. This was a great intro into so many characters I’m familiar with. Not only was it an intro into the series but also into the world of Stronghold, journeying with Angel as a newbie into the fray. All the spice, the romance and the humour that I’d expect.
