I've been reading quite a few cozy mysteries lately. This series,, so far, is very enjoyable. The characters are nuanced and interesting. The plots are not fully predictable. This series is a nice escape from the day to day routines.

Fun book with quirky characters. The mystery could have been better but the foursome made it fun. I read the first book and listened to the second. I preferred reading it to listening - the voice choices disappointed me. Looking forward to the third book but wish my library had the ebook rather than just the audio.

"She walked around her beloved bookstore, preparing to turn it the overhead other and reading land when she was suddenly overcome with gratitude. This place was hers. This will, enchanting, book-filled haven. As was her tiny house. Her perfectly sized parcel of coziness. And now, so unexpectedly, she had these incredible friends. Three strong, smart, scarred women who accepted her exactly as she was."

"What a way to kick off Fall. Most people have Labor Day parties or go apple picking. Not us. We get involved with murder investigations."

The Secret, Book & Scone Society series is made up of sweet, fun, cozy mysteries about how books, food, and friendship can help heal almost anything and how working together can solve problems.
The Whispered Word, book 2, followed along with the same wonderful people in the small town. This time a young woman arrives unexpectedly in Nora's bookshop with nothing but hospital garb & very few words. So the ladies of the Secret, Book, and Scone Society took her under their wing and tried to solve me mysteries that she came with.
This book was well written, with lots of bookish tidbits and quotes, fierce female friendships, romance blooming, and full of intrigue, mystery, and a little suspense. Also, add in some acceptance of past scars while working to understand you are not your mistakes and your past. That you can be and deserve to be happy and move on with life even though you have past regrets and shame. Lastly, I don't think I noted this in the review of the first book, but I thought it was a nice touch to have one of the ladies unintentionally become a cat whisperer because all the stray cats follow her on her nightly walks. That would be a sight to see! Looking forward to reading the next book in the series. 😊
