I finished the first in this series and then read this one in less than a day! I'm obsessed, quick and easy and fluffy and fun.

i cannot get enough. i absolutely love the cozy feeling i get from the Secret, Book, and Scone Society series. i’ve never been much of a mystery reader until i began reading ellery adams and the way she writes is so beyond perfect. i want to be Nora Pennington when i grow up :,)

This wasn't as good as the first book. There was no chemistry between the main character and her love interest (JED LOL sorry, but I cannot suspend my disbelief about a ~sexy Jed~) and the writing was often too didactic. Like, yes, I agree that the power of literature can change lives, but I was really smacked over the head with it over and over in this story, including randos giving long, improbable speeches about it. I guess I pretty quickly disconnect from books where it feels like the author is preaching to you through the characters instead of writing characters as themselves.

This book was even better than the first one! I love the depth the author brings to the characters. They are so real! The mystery had a good twist to it, too. I wish I could go to the bookshop and bakery. Nora's bibliotherapy sounds wonderful, but I have to admit that Hester's comfort scones sound a bit scary. What could be scary about comfort? Read and find out!

I've been reading quite a few cozy mysteries lately. This series,, so far, is very enjoyable. The characters are nuanced and interesting. The plots are not fully predictable. This series is a nice escape from the day to day routines.
