Not as strong as the first in the series, but still an enjoyable cozy. The mystery in this book is a little convoluted. I totally understand wanting to make a cozy mystery plot a little more complex than you typically find, but I think this one was a little too much. Nonetheless, I still really like the characters and the cute town and the little bit of romance.

The writing still isn’t the most captivating but the characters are sort of endearing.

It's been over a year & a half since I read the first book in this series, so I had to reacquaint myself with the characters and it took a few chapters. I still think it's strange to have a cosy mystery series without animal sidekicks and honestly this is also a little heavier then most cosy series. They deal with a lot of trauma in the backgrounds of the main characters, which could probably be slightly therapeutic for some readers.
This installments had THREE murders and ended up having an unsuspecting murderer. There also seem to be several romances that are starting up, so it will be interesting to see where these go.

I loved this journey! Nora and crew are such great characters. The mystery surrounding Abilene and other newcomers to Miracle Springs had me on my toes the entire time. The twists were unexpected - I never clocked the killer until Nora faced them head to head. I loved the blooming relationship between Jed and Nora - how they overcome their past together and learn to trust is just so heartwarming. I was tearing up at the end! Really good story and I cannot wait to continue the series. Definitely a must read if you like cozy mysteries!

This one was also solid. Accidentally read the first one of this series and then the fourth, so I went back to read the second and third. I wasn't sure what was going to happen at the end of this book, which I appreciated. I think this was also the book where Nora got reconstructive surgery on her facial scars. And I thought that was kind of a bummer. Like why have a disabled lead gal and then fix her in the second (or third?) book? Now she's hot? It made Nora feel less relatable and human to me.
Graphic: Death
Moderate: Child abuse, Blood, and Murder
Minor: Domestic abuse, Death of parent, and Alcohol

Nora believes that a well-chosen novel can bring healing and hope. Along with her friends, the other members of the Secret, Book and Scone Society know that sometimes practical help is needed to. When a girl is found hiding in the fiction section of Miracle Spring Books calling herself Abilene they all decide to help. When a customer is found dead in an assumed suicide in her pond by the Society while delivery Angel packages. It ties back to Abilene there mystery quest is hiding secrets that are following her to Miracle Spring.
I adored this book two of the Secret, Book and Scone Society series by Mrs. Adams. Ellery does it again by bringing us back to Miracle Springs in this not so cozy mystery where the lives of Nora and the other Society members unfold before your eyes. I adore this book and am happy it is a member of my home library. Ellery writes another one you can not put down until the end where you have to know what happens next.
