कटाक्ष और हास्य से भरपूर।दिल्ली दर्शन की आकांक्षा रही हो तो ये किताब ज़रूर उठाये।ज़िन्दगी भर दिल्ली में रहने के कारण काफी लप्रेक तथ्य सामान स्पष्ट लगे । रुमानियत और इक्कीसवी शताब्दी के शहर का खूबसूरत मेल है ये व्यंग। मज़ा आया।

Its actually a very simple and refreshing read. The author is able to connect the feelings of a person who has a belonging to a certain city and ofcourse the love life surrounding around it.

Cute snippets describing how moments of love are infused with the mist of surrounding city or events . The sketches accompanying are more interesting than the writing though.

यह किताब उन लोगों को बहुत पसन्द आएगी जो छोटी कहानियां और लघु प्रेम कथाओं (लप्रेक) के शौक़ीन है। अगर आप दिल्ली से अपरिचित है तो इसकी काफी कहानियाँ समझने में दिक्कत हो सकती है। रवीश की कलम का जादू पूरी किताब में साफ़ तौर पर दिखता है। कुछ कुछ कहानियाँ दिल को छु लेने वाली है और कई जगह समाज की हकीकतों से टकराती हुई लगती है।
यह किताब एक बार पढ़ने लायक तो ज़रूर है, और कुछ कहानियाँ बार-बार पढ़ने लायक है।

Unlike Ravish, I've lived in cities all my life. To fall in love in a city is inextricably linked to falling in love with the city. For most of my life, that city has been Kolkata (it was ticklish to find the story set in Prince Anwar Shah Road, a stretch I've frequented almost regularly for the last six years).

One also longs for cities. Six months in Pune encapsulated, as my partner-in-sharing-Pune put it, "the wingspan of a life". When you know you're going to leave a city, the last few weeks become a longing in itself - like being in the arms of your lover and longing for them.

Cities compare poorly with each other, but the weak heart cannot help it. A city without "parental guidance" (which may have nothing to do with parents) opens up differently. A city visited only twice, on two separate days, once for templehopping with relatives and once for citywalking and seagazing with a dear friend, becomes two cities, two spaces in the heart.

Loving in cities is also loving in the face of a spycam. I like the fact that Ravish acknowledges this, but ultimately does not bow down to its dictums.

The writing is really good in bits. It's the artwork, however, that lends the book some real weight.

वो पाठक जो हिन्दी में कुछ नया ढूँढ रहे हैं, जिन्हें रोमांस पसंद है और जो एक पुराने ढर्रे के बॉलीवुड टाइप प्रेम दिखाते उपन्यासों को पढ़कर ऊब चुके हैं, उनके लिए यह किताब एकदम परफेक्ट है। इसमें अंग्रेजी और मॉडर्न टेक्नोलॉजी की बातें केवल यह दिखाने के लिए नहीं की गयीं कि ये नए ज़माने के पात्र हैं, बल्कि इसमें पात्रों के ज़रिये लेखक की प्रोग्रेसिव सोच भी सामने आती है वो भी केवल दो-चार वाक्यों की बातचीत में ही।

अगर आपको दिल्ली को अपनी ही नज़रों से दोबारा एक नए रूप में देखना हो, या फिर प्रेम के उन पलों को दोबारा जीना हो जो आपका ही शहर अनजाने ही आपसे छीन लेता है या फिर हिन्दी में कुछ हल्का-फुल्का लेकिन बहुत ही खूबसूरत पढ़ना हो तो मुझे नहीं लगता, इससे बेहतर किताब का विकल्प आपके पास है। मुझे दो साल हो गए हैं इस किताब को पढ़ते हुए, लगातार पढ़ते हुए, लेकिन इश्क़ में डूबे इस शहर के लव-कॉर्नर्स आज भी पूरी तरह नहीं छान पाया।

Fun, easy and relatable.

I would have given it 3 stars if I understood the Delhi references. But well, that was a blocker, and other than that the book was okay.
