This book was bizarre. It wasn’t outright terrible but it all seemed so forced and unrealistic. The characters were one dimensional and not very believable. The dialogue was forced and weird. I think I said to my myself “what the hell is happening” at least a dozen times. The story line was all over the place and I couldn’t keep up with it.
I’m not really a poetry aficionado either so maybe that impacted my opinion of this book. Overall I wasn’t a fan, I ended up skimming through most of it and I’m trying to figure out how it has so many 5 star reviews.

September Ends had the promise of being an amazing book, moving and thought-provoking but it’s quite the opposite. The first few chapters, I was hooked and the writing was beautiful but then after the first 15% into it, the writing was choppy, the dialogue felt forced and the characters felt one-dimensional.
A few issues I had with the book was the insta-love and sexual conversations over email, I didn’t buy it. Is it possible to fall in love over emails? It's improbable but definitely possible, but still, I didn't buy it. The black and white photos in the book were a complete distraction. And I’m not one for looking at pinched nipples, women in lingerie or boob shots in general and I’m not a prude by any means but it was just silly because it felt like a picture book. You'll make me a lazy reader if you show me versus telling me.
Liz is on a journey to find healing after she suffers the loss of her brother. The way she copes is by writing and and over time she meets Peter through an email, which then moves into a chat-room of sorts, it’s a bit weird because I’m not sure that chat rooms exist anymore but who knows, I could totally be wrong or maybe I am a prude and I just don't know it.
The reviews out there are glowing, so clearly readers have received it well. While the book has an interesting concept, I couldn’t connect to the story or the characters for the various reasons I’ve listed and there’s really not much more I can say.

An original! The usage of poetry and prose makes this book a work of art. The love triangle of Liz, Pete and Jack was done incredibly well, drawing me in. The characters are flawed yet very human. The ending had me in tears! This is more than a love story, it's a story of survival. Love, loss, sin, redemption, salvation. Liz's determination is evident throughout the novel. The first chapters ending gives us insight into this 'modern day Scarlett O'Hara'.
"Let everything beyond this line be a new me for Peter William Hendrix III. Be there, beyond the line. My savior, my love. I believe I am going to marry you. You haven’t asked me yet, but you will. Okay, Diary, are you ready for a happy ending? You’d better be, because that is what you & I are going to get. I swear it."
Oh, and not an editing error to be found. This novel is so well done.

"She goes out into the garden...There's a full moon. And another vision. She sinks to her knees on the lawn. Jack's words fill the sky, verse after verse. Only to crumble line by line until they are nothing more than a jumble of letters which then go their separate ways, back into the universe from whence they came."
Love the phrasing used in this paragraph. September Ends is as well choreographed as it is well written. The characters of Liz, Pete and Jack are so real, you will feel that you know them, or that you have had a similar experience of love and loss. You will want to add this to your TBR list.

I have NO idea how to rate this... such a strange and completely different romance book. Disappointed in the end, but I guess that's what the sequel's for.

Wow, how to do this review without spoilers. This was an amazing book!
It is written as diary, mails, chat and poetry, which makes it different from anything else I have ever read. It played on the heartstrings and even had me shed a tear or two, not to mention the hot erotic scenes.
We follow the story of Elizabeth October Snow, her search for love turns out to be rather heartbreaking.
I highly recommend this book.
My favorite quote:
We are so close to Heaven on the mountain that we can hear the sound of the shooting stars in our hearts as they streak across the dark night sky.
Favorite part of a poem:
Still feeling your purrs deep within my soul.
