I purchased this book because I enjoyed Durable Goods and noticed that many others that reviewed Durable Goods mentioned this book favorably. I am so glad that I decided to take their advice and read Talk Before Sleep. The story was so moving. Maybe it was that I could relate to Ann so well, or that I have a similar relationship with my very best friend that Ann has with Ruth (thankfully, Jacqui is not sick in any way though).

If you are looking for a good cry and enjoy a story about enduring friendship, strong women, and the bond we all share, read this book!

I should have known what I was getting into, but I read this one on a plane and spent the last third of the book fighting back tears so that the person next to me didn't think I was insane. A lovely book about friendship between women.

I love Elizabeth Berg. She's one of my favorite authors to read when I need something that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. That said, this book won't make you feel that way, but it's OK. This is the story of a beautiful friendship (or a little of something more), told remarkably well.

Overall a very sad story about friendship and cancer.

Although the story is a good one - that of a woman keeping company with her best friend as the latter is dying of breast cancer and reminiscing about their friendship, the style is somewhat simplistic. Among the group of friends, each character is specific and has her own style, but remains rather superficial. An enjoyable, if sobering, quick read.
