Interesting but weird - it's like they tried to shove five different stories into about 150 pages. But it is festive!

What did I just read? This book was a mess. I mean, really. There was a mystery and then 30 more pages of... exposition?? For the next book. I don't know.. it was a quick read, but I won't be reading it again.

I was excited to try what I thought was going to be a quick Christmas Mystery but there was nothing thrilling or mysterious at all. I felt like this whole book dragged and was boring and I couldn’t wait for it to end.

I needed a short story to complete my list for this year. I usually do not read or enjoy Christmas stories, but this was good. I would recommend to others looking for a quick read.

2nd in the detective Luc Moncrief Bookshots series. Luc and K. Burke are called on to find some art thieves who murdered a wealthy woman. More of this book was devoted to the extravagant tastes of Moncrief, than to mystery. The book also discusses the death of Luc's father, and Moncrief's growing relationship with his police partner, K. Burke.

Art of Survival
The danger is real for Luc Moncrief as he colors outside the lines of police procedure (again). I liked this a lot more than book one as Moncrief and K.Burke continue their partnership that shows signs of potentially developing into something deeper.
I liked the case that this followed but it's what happened after the case wrapped that I enjoyed the most. Hearing about his childhood and learning more about his family makes him more endearing.
I was happy to listen to Jean Brassard. I really like his French accent.

An entertaining cop procedural/murder mystery with an heiress and a ring of art thieves. I don't really remember what happens, but there's action, a fun shoot out and a surprise inheritance. What's not to like?
