Beautifully written. I appreciate the fact that someone took a vulnerable time in their life and shifted it to be a work of hope. 

Truly a comfort book 

No book has ever inspired me to write my own version. But that’s what this book did. Once I started reading it, I started to write down my comforts in tandem to hearing Haig talk about his. With intense vulnerability and candor, Haig made me feel equal parts seen and comforted. I think anyone struggling with anything should read this book. It’s quick and easy. Although it took me awhile to finish, I think one can easily read this in one session. I kept returning to it in times of crisis throughout a difficult start to 2024. I’m glad I had it as a companion. It will absolutely be a book I reread throughout the years. Also, listening to it through Haig’s voice made me weep. It was amazing he was able to recount all of that and still inspire people who may be going through similar feelings. 

It took me a bit longer to finish this one mostly because I wanted to savor every page and read the book as I felt called to. Throughout this period of time in which I read this book, I have fallen into and out of reading slumps as well as learning to honor the fact that I am a mood reader. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I will definitely be re-reading it! There is a lot of great wisdom and food for thought. In those harder life moments, this book both held and comforted me. It made me feel less alone for which I am grateful.

I love Matt Haig's writing, and while I normally wouldn't go for a book like this, it came to me at the right time. A very helpful book if you're feeling low, flat or uninspired. A little repetitive, but the joy evident in the flow of Haig's writing makes up for it. Loved the quotes and segments of poetry. Overall a sweet quick read, but not something I'll pick up again. 

As someone who has anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, maybe even autism, and someone who has grieved the loss of my grandmother this year, I needed this book. Not even 30 pages in and I was crying. I do get what everyone says about it being repetitive, but sometimes you have to have things told to you several times before you actually believe them.
