My liking of the book changes each time I read it. It’s either 10/10 or mid. The book is definitely a story-progresser and their love romance didn’t make me kick my feet. But the foretelling in this book for the series (and a cute lil Easter egg for guild Hunter if you pay close attention) is SOO important. There’s more Judd, and slightly more importantly, there’s Krycheck - who we can all agree we’d die for. There’s also more of Hawke and his funny flirting. The book really picks up at the end, and honestly the last 30 or so pages are the most important, and the best. Faith’s character develops over the course of this book but doesn’t fully pick up for another few books.

But the relationships between the characters? Mhm. Difficult. It is made quite clear again and again that all characters in romantic relationships consent to the behaviour that their partners, specifically their changeling partners, portray. Yet consent is quite frankly a slippery slope in this book. A lot of the phrasing of thoughts, wants, wishes, etc. from the male mc are very worrying. And while the female mc's thoughts voice consent, some of it is given because she knows he needs it. Which is..a little uncomfortable.
I still had fun following the plot but you can bet that I wanted to punsh several characters multiple times.

To make this quick, I'll just say that I really enjoyed the interactions between the two main characters, Faith and Vaughn. I also enjoyed learning a little bit more about the PsyNet and I enjoyed the spicy scenes.
I'll give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars

The book is a bit outdated, especially when it came to ableist language.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is great, especially voicing the psy characters.
CW: murder, death of sibling (recounted + off page)
Moderate: Death and Murder

But by the end I liked them together, and I gotta give the author props for that.
Also I love Psychics. I loved Faith as a character and the development of the F-Psi lore.
Moderate: Child abuse and Sexual content
