Większość tej książki ma raczej przygnębiający ton i znowu Tevis daje niezbyt subtelnie do zrozumienia, że chyba nie przepada za ludźmi.

Przedrzeźniacz to dystopia - to co zostało ze społeczeństwa funkcjonuje w permanentnym ogłupieniu przez narkotyki, czy inne środki odurzające, a w międzyczasie cywilizacja wokół nich powoli przestaje działać. Ludzie oddali się w ręce robotów, które w pełni odpowiadają za utrzymanie pozorów, że świat jakoś jeszcze funkcjonuje. Ale i to również ledwo działa, bo niemal wszystkie świadome roboty, które miały sprawować nad wszystkim pieczę, popełniły samobójstwo. Zostały tylko te nieświadome, które monotonnie wykonują swoje rutynowe prace, dopóki same nie przestaną działać.

Śledzimy kilku bohaterów, którzy są w stanie porzucić ogłupiacze i wybrać świadome życie. Dzieje się to, bo odkrywają dawno zapomnianą umiejętność - czytanie.
Na początku bardzo wciągnąłem się w tę wizję świata i ogólny ton książki, ale w pewnym momencie Tevis zaczął mnie trochę gubić, a fabuła zaczęła się rozmywać.

This book is weird. I don't quite understand what the exact story the author was trying to tell, but it went through some weird events. I get the idea, robot/ai stops humans from reproducing. But it was difficult to read, maybe I don't enjoy dystopia about losing control of one's self, akin to the use of drugs, etc. Maybe it was also the lack of enjoyment from any of the characters, they all seemed to really have little motivation.

Un recomendado indiscutible, los tres protagonistas me enamoraron su evolución y su personalidad, no sabía hacia donde iba la historia, pero al final entendí que lo ocurrido debía suceder para la evolución de todos los personajes.
