A very big thank you to Goodreads. This was a giveaway win and I loved reading it.

Ramona is a wife, working mom of two, and a project manager. Hurricane Matthew is predicted as a category 4 storm and is causing emergency evacuations for the area. Adding to the chaos, Ramona comes home early after picking up her daughter early from the sitter only to find her husband of 18 years cheating on her in their home.

Six months prior to the hurricane and cheating discovery, Ramona learns that Prince has died and her emotions reminded me of mine. (Prince dying was profoundly sad for me.) Ramona rushes out of the house after discovering the infidelity to pick up her first grade son from school. While leaving the school, she is informed by her son’s teacher that the class pet is scheduled to go home with them this weekend. It’s one thing after another in Ramona’s spiraling world and the hurricane is just one more thing to get through.

I loved how relatable the main character is and how the author gave Ramona a range of real emotions. As women we juggle so much and sometimes it’s a lot to manage. But life doesn’t stop because we’re overwhelmed and Ramona handles it all in  relatable and honest ways. I loved the all prince references and will definitely be recommending this book to friends.

3.5ish ⭐️ This book was the perfect depiction of motherhood and doing all the things for everyone but yourself, all while dodging at cat-4 hurricane. The writing was witty, and I found myself cheering Ramona on through the story. Cute read!

With the title, how could I pass it up when I was at the library? It contained some of my favorite things: Prince, Savannah, a guinea pig, and purple. This was a very fun, one day read. Loved the flashbacks to my youth. Well paced and relatable in terms of relationships & motherhood. Some of her decisions certainly weren't ones that I would have made, but the results are entertaining. I do wish there was more of the best friend & his husband, I think they were good people and I wanted more time with them.
