This story was hilarious from the minute it started! I absolutely loved every second of it and laughed out loud so many times and didn't want to stop listening to it, I finished it in less than 48 hours. I loved the characters and their dynamic. I spent half the book also facepalming and screaming at Sloan for being dense. Then we had the incident involving the cookies and cream ice cream and I had to start screaming at Rowan! IYKYK
Fair warning, this is a very slow burn. The build-up is absolutely worth it, and quite hot once you finally get to the spicy bits but there are literally years of growing tension before that happens. This may be about two serial unalivers playing a game but it's absolutely a RomCom first and foremost. It's like Dexter meets Hallmark.
Both Sloan and Rowan could have used a little more background story about why they do what they do; it seemed like a out of the blue to some extent that they both became serial unalivers. But if you don't think about it and just assume there's some sort of reason, it certainly works with the story. And I have read Leather & Lark (Book 2) already which does get into some of it.

100% recommend for true crime types! It does get pretty graphic in certain parts; in the gorey way, not just the fun way. Definitely one of my top books for the year and I can't wait for the third installment!

I guess I have a morbid sense of humor because I really enjoyed this book about serial killers falling in love! I really liked these characters and how they were totally normal (except for how they liked to kill serial killers for fun). It was refreshing to read about flawed people who were still likable and whose big issues were almost understandable (even though I don’t think I would ever kill someone). A lot of the serial killer aspect of this book is gruesome so be warned. I also liked how their relationship evolved overtime and their chemistry. I read this book so quickly because I just couldn’t put it down and had so much fun with it. The only things I didn’t like were the excessive language, the cringey terms used during spicy scenes, and I also found that this book was a bit too spicy for me. It went into a lot of things I don’t typically like in my romance (dom-sub, kinky stuff, etc.) so that just wasn’t for me. I appreciated that the characters utilized safe words but their interactions sometimes made me uncomfortable personally. The twist in the end was one I saw coming just before it happened which was fun, but I also hated how Rowan handled that confrontation at the end. I’m looking forward to the next book!

What happens when two rival murderers happen upon a chance meeting with one another while hunting their prey? An annual game of hunting, blood and suffering to change their rivalry into an unlikely friendship, going against the most monstrous in the country.
Sloane is known as the Orb Weaver- she plucks out the eyes of her victims, and wants intricate webs. Rowan is known as the Boston Butcher, murdering for sport. But each have something in common. They rid the world of those who are deserving.
But as their friendship develops into something more, the question becomes "do monsters deserve love, too?"
So,  Butcher & Blackbird was an impulse buy. I have seen it all over my tiktok, and when I went to Walmart to grab two completely different books, I picked up Butcher & Blackbird also. And even though I have seen it everywhere- I didn't really know much about it. Which is perfect since I like going into my books blind. And while I may question every bite of ice cream in the future (thanks for that by the way) - let's be real, I couldn't give up that deliciousness... If the promise of pain and sickness from being lactose intolerant doesn't stop me, the book surely wouldn't πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚- I loved this book.
It was the perfect combination dark, but still a rom-com with a slow-burn between the characters. It was light in a way I never knew a dark romance could be - but still had the dark elements to it that I love in my books (but definitely check over the tw if you have any).
I loved Sloane, she was quirky and sassy. And I loved Rowen, he was funny and charming. And they were perfect for each other. This book was exactly what I needed to get back into reading after a busy stress filled month. It was everything I didn't know I wanted. It was a fun but dark read, that made me feel giddy like a kid in a candy store. So if you like your characters a bit deranged, if you like content that makes you wonder what the heck you just read, but like characters that can bring a smile to your face, or make you laugh then I recommend this book. And I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. 5 chaotic cookies & cream ⭐ out of 5 ⭐.
4🌢️ out of 5🌢️ - multiple scenes throughout, in detail, includes k!nks, dirty talk, etc

Well, I'm obsessed with this now.
I'm not typically a romance girlie, but I hesitantly picked this one up after hearing it recommended by multiple friends and now I'm very glad I did!

This book has it all. It's funny, it's smutty, it's sweet, it's gory. The banter and the humor is top tier. The spice was surprisingly delightful. The story built around rivalry and competition and slowly building a relationship was really fun. The characters are the kind you love getting to know and feel sad to leave behind when the book ends.

I cannot possibly speak high enough praise for the audiobook. The narrators do a phenomenal job and the quality is impeccable. Without a doubt the best audio recording I've ever experienced.

All the stars. Can't wait for the next one. Special thanks to my friends who bullied me - ya'll are real ones.

NOTE: Pay close attention to the trigger warnings, if things like that concern you. There are many of them.
