What this book gave me is a vision of utopic love and sexuality that I do think is inherently liberating. It prompted me to question some unnamed preconceptions I have about sex, and almost immediately had an impact on how I view relationality. It is, however, not completely with the times. Some language choices etc. don’t reflect the kind of queer I am. But I’m glad to have finally read this classic, and grateful to these authors for all their pioneering work

Informative and approachable, while non-judgmental of all readers (those in the poly community or not).

Thorough, insightful and paradigm shifting. I’m sure not everything at all ever about sluttery is in here but it’s pretty damn close
The discussion of setting respectful boundaries for all parties was rather well done. The book is rather cheesy at times, but it's almost campy in its cheesiness. The language is also a little outdated at times, but to be fair it is an older book. It's more of a collection of things/cases/scenarios to consider than a prescriptive guide, but overall a decent read.
I first read The Ethical Slut a few years ago, but I recently picked up the newer version. On second read through, I still like a lot of the philosophy of this book. It's worth reading even if you're in a radical monogamous relationship. Many of the ideas here apply to all healthy relationship dynamics: love, communication and community are better relational touchstones than ownership, fear and demand making.
