While the first book in this series left me kind of exhausted, I enjoyed this one. Same Snicket writing style, but mini-mysteries that are actually answered at the end.

It was an entertaining read. The mysteries are obviously for children to solve because they are a bit on the easy side. Lemony Snicket's ability to come up with unique characters is definitely highlighted in this book

Lemony Snicket is the Sam Spade of the tween-set.
These 13 short mysteries are stylish and excellent brain teasers too.
I also love the (presumably) red herring answers at the end of the book.
I started by listening to the audiobook version but failed miserably to keep up with the case solving (I am really much more of a visual than aural learner), so ended up borrowing the book to go at my own pace.
Tremendous fun.

I thought every story included things that made me laugh (the phrasing of his thoughts), and revealed new things about Stain'd by the Sea. The mysteries were if varying levels of difficulty, which is really good for younger readers. I enjoyed this book, but am ready for the next full book from the series.

This was cute. I enjoyed coming up with my own solutions and finding out if they were true in the end. Very clever.

Lemony Snicket channels Encyclopedia Brown. Didn't actually finish it. Missed the snappy humor of the Series of Unfortunate Events. There's something about these books being written in first person that I just can't quite relate to the characters. I mean, the main character is "Lemony Snicket" but he's a young boy character with an adult mind and... I want to like it? but not so much. Did enjoy the very subtle references like Doctor Sobol (homage to Donald J. Sobol) and a grocery store owned by Polly Partial named Partial Foods...
