Such a well written book and the narrator of the audio version was fantastic! But for the unsatisfying ending, I would have rated this book four or five stars, such was my enjoyment of the characters and their respective narratives.
But the reader is really left dangling on a number of the storylines, which was such a letdown.

Took me longer to get through than I anticipated because it’s been a busy month but overall it was a good book that got better as the chapters went on. There are a lot of characters to keep track of and the chapters alternate in no specific order from their perspectives so I do recommend reading this one exclusively and consistently.

Incredible prose that wove together stories of in-depth characters. Fantastic exploration of love, loss, family, grief, and passion in beautiful Paris seen through so many different lenses.

Reading this book feels like being transported back in time to a city that I've never been to and an era that I'll never know. Yet, Alex George wrote such lyrical prose that made me feel as if I was in Montmarte in 1927. Every character is relatable and are all looking for the same thing we are - human connection. They question their choices and their identities all whilst trying to get through their day. A beautiful read that I fully devoured!

Marvelous! Pitch perfect, completely immersive, George deserves a huge standing ovation. This was one of those books I could have finished weeks ago, but kept making myself put it down so it wouldn’t come to an end before I wanted it too. It was the perfect companion to Jane Smiley’s Perestroika in Paris, which I also loved.

I loved the way the multiple main characters' stories went on separately and came together at the end. It reminded me of a Kate Morton story with more graphic descriptions and male protagonists. I truly ached and celebrated with them. It just kills me that a lot is left to reader interpretation on what becomes of the characters. I was really ready for a confrontation there at the end! But I still loved it.

This book was truly enchanting. You feel for each character and their unique tragedy. An emotional journey that will resonate with me long after I have turned the last page.

Beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. The ending will leave you speechless! I loved how all of the characters stories intertwined in the end.

4.5 star read.
I love Paris and this book made me feel like I was there... of course post WWI.
I love multi character stories and multi layered story lines that all end up interweaving themselves. The beginning through me a little off trying to keep each character’s story straight. Once I got into it further I devoured this book.
His writing reminded me of Hemingway’s... clean, concise writing. This could have been an epic novel, but instead it was under 300 pages, but rich with story.
