I think I'll read anything Kresley Cole writes. Every time I finish one I think I can't like the next characters as much and I still love them all!

If this isn't the perfect example of how to get lady blue balls, then I don't know what is. This book by proxy is SWIMMING in sexual tension like you would not believe. Dark Needs At Night's Edge is the fourth book in the ongoing Immortals After Dark series and we finally get to see the infamous Conrad Wroth succumb to his own fated mate--unfortunately his bride is...well out of reach.
Ya'll I honestly had so much fun reading this book. Neomi and Conrad was a complete hoot to read. Neomi is our first ghost in the series and she is trapped in the house she was murdered in 80-ish years ago; a ballerina forever in her prime, Neomi was enthralling from the first moment she came onto the page. I loved her ingenuity and determination to live her life even when it ceased. Conrad is crazed when his brothers hold him prisoner at Neomi's abandoned home; going through blood withdrawal and seeing the memories of those he has killed, he is at his whits end.
It was so much fun watching these two meet each other and learn from one another. I took an increased level of pleasure watching their relationship grow in the absence of touch. Seeing this different aspect of intimacy between a hero and heroine for majority of the book was such a rush and a level of freshness that I couldn't get enough of it. Plus who knew verbal foreplay was so hot?!
One of the sweetest and hottest books in the series so far (Bowen is still my favorite book though); Dark Needs At Night's Edge is a prime example of a great vampire romance. Writhing with sexual tension and a chemistry so strong only the fates could rival it; I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone looking for a solid PNR vampire romance where you never know exactly how things will end.

THIS WAS SO CUTE AND FUNNY. I really didn't expect to laugh so much, but oh my god, I actually adored this. Sexy ghost story for the win! And yes, I did actually like the ending. I thought it was cool and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
"But, Néomi," Nïx began with the gravest severity, "whenever you disembody..." She paused as if deciding how best to deliver tragic news.
"Yes?" Néomi whispered. Conrad was holding his breath.
Nïx finally finished, "You will be...wearing that dress."
Néomi and Conrad groaned."

Think I burned out on this series with this book. First half super boring with H spending his day tied to a bed watching a ghost.

OVERALL: Loved the steam between our characters as he battles for his sanity and she fights for a change in her circumstances: to gain a body or life again. Lots of good tension and desperation in this book, with numerous close calls to keep you hooked and turning pages!
Content warnings: mental health issues, ghosts, murder, violence, kidnapping, hostage, blood, hallucinations, sexually explicit scenes, language
I really enjoyed this story between Neomi and Conrad. Despite her being a ghost without a body and him being an almost-insane vampire, there still managed to be connection and sexy times. I liked that Conrad was struggling to determine whether or not Neomi was real or another of his memories/hallucinations--this was a realistic element of internal conflict that increased the tension and showed his suffering in a sympathetic way. I felt like I should have considered Conrad evil, from his past actions that we catch glimpses of with his memories/problems, plus his red eyes and what they signal. But he's also our hero and because we see him trying so hard to be and get better, he's a sympathetic character too. Nice and complex.
The second half had a lot of plot, we finally leave the mansion and have some action. I'd been wondering about how Neomi would get a body, and was happy to see the return of Mari from book 3. Duh, magic.
I liked this story and the resolution of their problems, plus we hear a bit more from Nix--she seems to be becoming more involved with each book and consulting/helping/guiding the characters, which is really cool to see!
I will say I found it a little confusing as to who exactly was after Conrad (and for what reasons) and also who he was hunting? I felt like I missed something early on.
Plus the dream demon plotline... I guess it did have a through-line and resolution, but I felt like that was kind of weak, or at least unexplained to my satisfaction.

So I had this marked as read already from 2010, I think I marked the wrong title from this series, because I definitely had not read this title before... (I think I confused it with another Immortals after dark series) For some reason, I ate this up in one night. Cover to cover, it wasn't necessarily something I would recommend or even something I entirely enjoyed. But apparently it was what I needed last night to get to sleep.
Interesting idea a tortured soul vampire character in love with a light hearted ghost.

3.5 stars = more than ok. I didn’t feel there was as much of a climax as the last one I read (and I did skip one because it wasn’t available at the library at that time). But the story was still good and even though I skipped the previous one, I wasn’t missing much for this one.
