This edition was condensed and had illustrations on every other page. I will read the original unabridged edition and update my review for this edition later.
For now, the author, Marion Leighton, who adapted this version, seems to have left out some vital events or doesn't focus on them as much as she should. I suppose this version would make for a nice introduction to the original if a young child isn't quite ready to read it.

It was very different from the movie, and I didn't like how the characters spoke, but it was enjoyable.

A great children's classic- so uplifting and positive! The only reason it is not a 5 star is that Pollyanna is too perfect which doesn't allow for much growth (though the secondary characters do grow a lot). Overall a very enjoyable book- definitely want to read the rest of the series.

What a wonderfully uplifting children's classic! I loved getting to know the characters and seeing the way Pollyanna touched each of their lives. While I strongly believe that their are healthy ways to work through negative emotions, I loved the theme of finding one's blessings no matter the situation. It was a sweet story.

"…there is something about everything that you can be glad about, if you keep hunting long enough to find it."

[b: Pollyanna|1000751|Pollyanna (Pollyanna, #1)|Eleanor H. Porter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1348971112l/1000751._SX50_.jpg|1099715] is the story of a exceedingly optimistic eleven year old girl who is tragically orphaned and sent to live with her grumpy Aunt. Pollyanna wons everyone's heart by her sunny disposition. She plays “Just Be Glad” game and even the stingy person of the town play along with her!

As an adult I am turning into a less optimistic person these days and I am glad that I found this book! This is truly inspiring and helpful for positive thinking! Any little kid will raise as a kind and thoughtful adult if s/he reads this book!

I took off one star because it has a very similar storyline as [b: Anne of Green Gables|8127|Anne of Green Gables (Anne of Green Gables, #1)|L.M. Montgomery|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1390789015l/8127._SY75_.jpg|3464264].

The simple story revolves around being glad, its a game her dad invented, to be glad for anything and everything. And that is what I loved about the story. if you are glad the glass is a little fuller, the colors are little brighter, the grass is a little greener. it challanges you to see the good in every bad, the light in every dark.the glad game will change you and shape who you are, if you let it.
I recommend this story for all the kids, and adults with an open mind and a child's heart.
