"For now, I need someplace to hide out and a couple of fake IDs. So, are you going to invite me in?"
"Come on in, you undead English asshole. And hello again, Miss...?"
"Bright," I managed. "Call me Zorah."
--Rans, Guthrie, & Zorah

5+ stars!

I loved everything about this book!! The humor in this book is so above par from other vampire/paranormal novels I've read, while the story itself flows so effortlessly that I did not want to stop reading. I loved that Zorah is not your typical heroine--she is open about her physical and mental ailments, she has a strained and almost hostile relationship with her father, and her reactions to everything she faces in the novel were realistic yet powerful. She was amazing, and Rans was just as broken and cryptic (he is a vampire, of course) but still protective over Zorah and determined to help her. He was the push to her pull, and their relationship while still new was lovely. There were also so many twists in this novel that I was NOT expecting that I feel added so much depth and layers to the storyline. There was a mild cliffhanger towards the end that leaves you ready for book two. I CANNOT WAIT to continue on in this series!!

My badass and sexy yet vulnerable Ransley, the last vampire (like, ever)...

Builds the fictional world, but ends too soon.. doesn't need to be ended at this point unless the authors are going for quantity over quality.

Not much explanation of who Zorah is, but I assume that will unfold in the upcoming books.

This book hooked me from the first chapter and did not let me go until the end. I devoured it in a weekend. That's saying something, considering I'm typically a slow reader who can take months to finish a novel. Can't wait to get my hands on the next in the series!

Well paced and very enjoyable

Well paced engaging book. I enjoyed Zorah and finding more about her. I read the sample and loved what I read and devoured the book immediately after. I am curious about where the book will go next and would def enjoy some more of Rans,

Good start

I began well. A girl who finds out about a secret world that no one else knows about and it moved along well after that but the ending was disappointing. It felt like the story was about to get some good action and then it just ends. I don’t know if I will read the next ones since there is a total of six so far when i read this book. There demons and faeries and a vampire which is everything I like but I’m unsure if i want to continue.

I just love a good paranormal book and Gwendolyn did not disappoint with this one. There were a couple of surprises you don’t see coming and the play out at the perfect parts. That cliffhanger makes you want to jump in for the next one too.
Narration with this book is great! I have listened to Jaelynn a few times and she did fantastic with this one as all the others I have heard from her.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was mostly delightful and a very readable adventure. Happy to read a UF with a mixed race protagonist instead of the usual alabaster skin BS. And pinched myself when she started talking about mental health and chronic pain, even if those themes didn’t last long. I didn’t love how powerless she was, dependent on man rescue, but I loved the romance setup. The inward slut shaming was ridiculous.

Flock review. Zorah and Rans's story was unique, it started quite interesting and got me hooked from there the story developed quite good, these two authors did a great job writing together. The storyline was refreshing and very imaginative. Definitely will be looking for the next book as it ends in a cliffhanger. The audiobook was narrated by Gwendolyn Druyor, she did a terrific job portraying each character, definitely a good editing and mixing, would recommend the audiobook.

This one started off great! And the concept is interesting and there are so many interesting characters, but... it just didn't work for me? I wouldn't tell someone not to read this one and know people who'd probably enjoy it, but it isn't for me.
