So. Much. Fun. This is not comprehensive but it’s a nice little collection of history on compelling topics. I’m particularly fond of the chapter on c*nt vs vagina, as well as the story involving “gland larceny.”
Update: I read this twice in one year. I don’t know if I’ve ever done that so that should tell you how much I enjoyed this book.

A very candid look at various sex related topics throughout history. It's overall very informative, and written in a snarky, funny style. Not perfect, but a worthwhile book for those who want to understand that part of our nature and culture better.

The book tackles some very heavy topics as well, so be sure to take a look at the content warnings before you dive in.

An easy, entertaining read — it doesn’t promise to be an exhaustive encyclopedia, but a lot of thought and research comes through.

I really enjoyed this! Kate Lister is both educating and entertaining, with her historical discussion spanning time, culture and regions. I learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed doing so- particular highlights include the story of testicle theft and the role of the bicycle in women's liberation.

My only criticism is as the author herself states, this book is not and cannot be comprehensive; I would have loved more chapters on the LGBTQ+ history and on some of the more modern history of sex and sex work, but overall a fantastic book, and I believe there's something in it for everyone.
