Tackling time travel in a first novel is pretty brave. I did get a little lost in a couple of places, but it's a tough subject! I very much enjoyed the idea that someone would go back through time to create a religion. Kate, the heroine, is pretty likeable, and self-aware .
I initially gave this 4 stars, but considering that it's a YA novel, and a first one at that, I decided to give it one more.

I love time-travel novels. It might be my favorite genre. I picked up Timebound as part of the Amazon Kindle Owner's Lending Library. I started this one a couple of months ago and just never got around to finishing it, until now. Given the long time it took me to finish Timebound, you can probably guess my overall thoughts.
Basic idea of Timebound is a young girl who's given a medallion that allows her and others like her to travel through time. Unlike books like Stephen King's 11-22-63 or Diana Gabaldon's Outlander who use time-travel as an interesting plot device, Timebound makes it the crux of the novel. It almost plays out more like how bad can we confuse the reader on all the time travel that's going on. There are so many different strains of time that I had a really tough time keeping up.
If you're planning on reading Timebound I'd recommend to stop reading this review right now. Ok so you're still reading, here comes a huge spoiler. After the book comes to a close almost everything that happens in the novel is inconsequential because of the last jump in time. Throughout the novel the plot moves forward and at the very end Rysa Walker throws most of it away. A cheap time-travel ploy to keep the the series going. Unfortunately it didn't work on me as this is the one and only book in this franchise I'm reading.

i liked this book. the time travel idea is wonderful. and i like the way she developed how it works. i also love the history in this one, the Chicago world's fair!
this was a good distraction. a quick read, entertaining. i'm going to read the next books in the series. but i'm not in this book's world. maybe because of all the jumps back and forth, or maybe because i'm not really connecting with kate, and her love triangle of sorts.
keeping in mind that this is ya, i'm not super looking to get emotionally invested. so it's a good story. and i am looking forward to finding out when/if they are able to fight the timeline changes that are wrecking havoc.

Here's what happened. I thought I would finish this but I got curious and read about the series as a whole and people either loved it or hated it AND based off of publisher summaries and reviewers I decided to stop reading. I wasn't interested in it enough to stay the course through however many books are in the series or to even finish this title. I was enjoying it okay but the publisher's descriptions of later books actually turned me off to the direction the author was going to take it.

Interesting premise, but I could not hook into the characters, they felt flat. In the end, even though this is a series, I’m not sure I’ll continue it. Time travel is a great concept, but this story seems to be taking it in a direction that sets up not only changes to history, but also religion/cults, environmental disaster, megalomania, and family rifts with a dash of love triangle. It’s a lot for a YA book, and in this one it doesn’t all reach cohesion.

My Take:
I loved this story! The book kept going and going with action and keeps your attention to turn the pages to find out more of what will happen with Kate. It was well written and a quick fantastic read.
I loved the main character Kate as she gets thrown into this whole new world of time travel. At first she was not sure about it but destiny calls to her to help. Kate has a gene that allows her to time travel with the medallion which I thought was pretty unique to have written in this story. I love how Kate immerses herself into learning time travel and how it works along with the rules so the time line doesn't get disrupted. She heads back in time to save her grandmother who's a time traveler herself which made my head spin. You'll have to read the book to understand what I'm talking about!! You will love it.
As for the romance department, there's two guys: Kiernan and Trey! Who will the be one for Kate? Kiernan is aware of time traveling and knows quite a bit. Trey is the other guy who falls for Kate during a timeline being disrupted for her. He was there for her and gave her chance to help. Will either one of them remember what is going on and their romance with Kate? Will Kate figure it out as well?
The ending left me wanting to know what was going to happen next. Will there be a sequel? I hope so!!! I want to know what happens next. The characters I just absolutely loved. I'm not indulging in all the details of this fantastic story because you need to read it yourself. It's a great adventure. If you like time travel, a bit of sci fi, adventure and a bit of romance, then this book will fit perfectly with you. You won't regret it! Pick it up today.

A few small bumps in the road but in general I was hooked in immediately. Any book that keeps me up until 2am is a keeper. Excited for more.
