I first saw Bryan Cranston in Malcom in the Middle as Hal, then as Walter White in the brilliant Breaking Bad series. I have to say there is so much more to this actor than meets the eye.
I began searching for his book after I saw a clip of him speaking on Graham Norton where he was a wedding celebrant and did a wedding 20,000 feet in the air on a plane shouting the words over the sound of the engine. After hearing this story, I was interested to hear what other stories characterised who this celebrity was.
This book was engaging, entertaining, humorous and meaningful, and so many other things wrapped together in a package of 274 pages. He has led an incredibly interesting life, and this story details his personal and professional story from challenging family background to family man, from child actor and police trainee, to Walter White. He has gone on motorbike journeys with his brother, including an adventure where he was briefly considered a murder suspect, and worked in numerous odd jobs and tried different acting roles. I can see the dedication Bryan Cranston has for his craft, and his expectations and standards to ensure his work life and home life is balanced. You can see in the writing his values of always striving to learn more, be humble, be respectful, and the importance of family.
A fantastic read that I would recommend for people who would like an insight into the mind, values and experiences that have shaped this brilliant actor.

Fantastic memoir! Loved the format and how Cranston approached each chapter. Bonus that the audio book is read by the author!

I am not an audiobook fan; this is one that I knew I HAD to listen to, and it was easily one of the most enjoyable autobiographies that I have ever come across. I picked this audiobook up with only the background knowledge of Cranston as Walter White, one of my favorite on-screen characters.
I would easily put Cranston's storytelling on par with McConaughey's 'Greenlights'. I loved the ebb and flow of his narrative, from immature and adventurous youth to hard working, family-oriented actor. This man has packed more life into his 60-odd years than dozens will have in their lifetimes.
Whether mentor, mechanic, or drinking buddy, Cranston has the range to do it all.

Bryan is incredibly introspective and has a lot of stories; some are dark, some are funny, some are both.
I recommend it for any fans of his work.

I've liked Bryan Cranston ever since he played the goofy father on Malcom in the Middle. Imagine my surprise when everyone is talking about the show "Breaking Bad" and the goofy father has turned into a monster. Amazing that Mr. Cranston could carry off the sheer breadth to play both parts, but he does and knocks it out of the park in the process.
I liked this book which is pretty much a short biography of Mr. Cranston's life [listened to the audio version which he himself read]. He comes across as a nice guy who is dedicated to the craft of acting and his performances demonstrate this. Whether he is as nice in private as he seems in the book who knows, he is, after all, an actor. I hope he is. It's interesting that he mentions his first wife not at all in this biography. Hmm...
At any rate, it's a good read if you're interested in Bryan Cranston.

What an absolute delight this was to read (listen, actually). Everyone should be as inquisitive, kind, and caring as Bryan Cranston is. Makes me want to rewatch Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle ASAP.

I'm going through a biography "phase", and I keep getting these celebrity memoirs. I should've known better.

Bryan Cranston has led an incredibly varied and interesting life and, if we're to be totally trusting and believe he's being fully honest, he's such a moral and outstanding man that it was a pleasure to listen to his very calming voice tell it.
You get insights into the man and his legendary roles and will definitely walk away with a deep respect for his as a committed actor and an awesome human being.

I read the bulk of it in two days. It’s been a while since I’ve devoured a book that way. I love how vulnerable and open Bryan Cranston is in this book. You learn so much not only about his own struggles and triumphs but about the perseverance of the human spirit when one is truly dedicated. Having watched Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle is a bonus (I loved both of these shows) but not a prerequisite.
