Scandinavian detectives are adorable - they are often morose, irritable, have problems with women, chew toothpicks and play badminton to de - stress. That's why I love Scandinavian thrillers. They are comfort reading for me and this one is a very satisfying read.

Every book I read in this series is better than the previous one. I couldn't help sympathizing with the killer in this one while also rooting for the detectives to stop the killing. It is amazing that such a non violent country could breed so many crime writers with vivid imaginations.

I read this mystery without even looking at the jacket flap and I'm very glad of it; the flap would certainly have ruined a few interesting developments for me. So: go read it. Now. If you need more convincing, read on.

Very well presented and read radio adaptation of this Scandinavian crime novel. Possibly lost something of its intricate plot in being abridged, however it was a good gritty story provided with a wonderful dark atmosphere by the reader, Michael Maloney.
