Modern take

On post apocalyptic genre. Pacing at the end was strange. Perhaps a few too many characters, however I Enjoyed it.

I thought this would be more of a techno-thriller. It turned out to be more of a man vs man or a man vs himself sort of story. Interesting, compelling, and extremely thought-provoking. It has a One Second After kind of vibe in that the core disaster is one that is entirely too plausible and leads to events that are entirely too likely. By the end of the book, the most troubling concept is just how conceivable everything described really is.

Chilling, spooky, and suspenseful. Loved the tone of this book.

In particular I liked how the main character was a smart every man. He didn't make grand deductions based on small amounts of data. The protagonist was just a man trying to survive and understand his surroundings.

It's been a while since I've had a book I couldn't put down. This was such a book. Good read!

Interesting. 3.5 stars would feel more accurate.

Well written. Fun read. Look forward to reading more by this author soon. I hope others take the time to read.

The day after tomorrow meets worldwide communications failure.

A touching tale of family and friends stuck in a disaster zone. Plausible in it's plot, scarily real and so well written that you can feel what the characters are putting up with, the tensions between them and the love they have for each other. I'm not usually a post apocalypse / prepper fan however, this was very good indeed.

Just finished this book. Not sure how I heard about it. Maybe from Hugh Howey. Really a compelling read. I think books in this genre raise some interesting questions and this is no exception. It touches on a lot of concepts, not too deeply though. One difference is that it's "apocalypse" is near term plausible. Zombies are fun to think of, a time when the world we knew is buried in san is an interesting concept but this scenario seems more likely. And now I hear it will be a movie. Can't wait. In the meantime gonna check my survival kit and work on some hunting and gathering skillz.

Cyber Storm has an interesting premise, but its execution doesn't fit my reading tastes. Still, I think it has a lot of entertainment value. It moves quickly. And for fans of disaster/survival fiction, there are some interesting scenarios to consider. My biggest criticisms: often long passages of techno-political detail are clumsily burried into dialogue, and like other reviewers, I found the last 10% of the novel underwhelming.
