From the blogger of 1000awesomethings.com, comes this book that talks, ad nauseam, of things that are AWESOME! This book can be fun when you digest it in small chunks. As gross as this is going to sound, it would actually make a good bathroom book. Do your business, read a few awesome things, and go on your merry way. This isn't the way I read it though, and about half way through just skipped the descriptions of items I wasn't that interested in.

Some of these items have way more description than necessary. For example, 'When there's leftover cake in the office kitchen' has a three page description! What is there to describe about cake being left in the kitchen. Grab a fork and chow down, that's all you need!

There were some awesome things that you smile and agree with. Popping bubble wrap, a long hug when you really need it, and snow days. I'm surprised that finding a parking spot at the front of the mall isn't one... especially during Christmas that's always a favourite of mine!

If you do pick up this book, take your time with it.

This book reminded me that the simple things in life are the best things that can happen to you.
Don’t overlook them.

Trying to read this book in one sitting is not recommended, however.
It started to get to me, and I began to skim if some of the ‘awesome’ things didn’t relate to me.
But if you’re feeling low and need a pick me up, I’d suggest it! :)

A series of essays (some as short as one paragraph) on various things the author declares as awesome; i.e "Hitting a Bunch of Green Lights in a Row", "Popping Bubble Wrap". Subjective, light, and some may be familiar. A so-so book -- fortunately I got it from the library and did not buy it. I would recommend getting a notebook and writing your own book of awesome.

Some were silly. Some were great. A pretty unnecessary book, but a good, positive bedtime reader.

While I got the book for myself, I ended up bringing it to work and reading a little section of it for my co-workers at the end of a relatively boring meeting each week. It became a bit of a tradition and everyone ended up looking forward to our reading from "The Book of Awesome."

I appreciate books like this for the place they have in this world to uplift and bring joy.

The Book of Awesome is a 393 page reminder that great, AWESOME things come in the most simple of moments.

Through lives small triumphs, moments of easily forgotten fun, guilty giggles, and the tiniest realizations, we spend our time going from one thing to the next and in the shuffle I sometimes forget to really enjoy the things I do. The Book of Awesome goes through those seconds of daily life and finds those situations that we pass by and re-lives, examines, and champions them with all the humor and lightheartedness you would expect.

I found this book to be really fun, so much so my list of favourite entries got too long and jumbled to keep track of. The Book of Awesome has this great combination of experience story-telling and humor. It can get a bit repetitive with the distinct writing style/pattern that Pasricha uses but the transition between the blog format and book was pretty well done.

This isn't something that you read through in one sitting though, it's the type of book that's great to just have around and read whenever you're in the mood for it. I think it can be best described as a mood booster and I definitely enjoyed it best in those moments where I needed something to give myself a little down time and LOLCATS just aren't doing it for me.

With that said, I can see myself coming back to this in the future or at least checking out [b:The Book of (Even More) Awesome|9379365|The Book of (Even More) Awesome|Neil Pasricha|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327460018s/9379365.jpg|14263000] or[b:The Book of (Holiday) Awesome: When the Christmas Lights All Work, Successfully Regifting a Present, Drinking with Grandma|11445612|The Book of (Holiday) Awesome When the Christmas Lights All Work, Successfully Regifting a Present, Drinking with Grandma|Neil Pasricha|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327985846s/11445612.jpg|16379391]. I'd mention the blog itself, but I'm sure I don't need to waste anymore time then I already do on the internet. If you're interested in the overall concept, it's a great book to at least flip through.
