Oblomov is a landowner without a purpose he struggles through his life trying to keep himself busy and fails to find a cause worth his while. Oblomov would start a game of chess and give it up because he could not see the endgame. Constantly struggling to survive he is a Kafka figure without the paranoia.

The amount of Very-Russian-Literature (VRL) moments were tolerable and well spaced out which made it more enjoyable. Oblomov was so impressively lazy and at times rather repulsive, that it made it hard at times to see his “dove-like” qualitie, Olga seemed to be laying it on a bit thick. Also,,,, Olga had a ~few~ moments where she seemed too ‘not like other girls’ but that was mostly when Stolz was thinking about her & it kinda went with the woman-bashing.
