It was so boring . I had already read the courage to be disliked. So this book just felt like a regergitation of that. Also the princles are so simple . Like I’d hope people realise that they need to treat people as individuals and that you don’t need a book to tell u to be a decent person💀 also it’s just so repetitive. But I appreciate the conversation format of it … ish.

I didn’t dislike this book , but I expected to enjoy it more . I think it was the way it was written as a continuous discourse that became repetitive toward the middle , and actually difficult to push through at points . I liked the overall message on self reliance and love - however it took going around in circles a couple of times to get to these lessons . I also felt like this book touched on topics but wasn’t able to reveal the depths of the topics discussed .

I like that this booked was more applied than the first one but the conversation was hard to follow at times and felt exaggerated. I understand that it is by no means easy to come up with a dialogue to convey a philosophical idea and I still consider this a great work of literature. As your average layperson I enjoyed the first book more. Maybe it also has to do with the fact that I used audiobook as my preferred way of reading this book.

Interesting introduction to Alder's ideas. I disagree with a significant portion of his network of thoughts on how we all interact and what needs to be in place for it all to work for the individual let alone the whole lot of us.
