Epilogue novellas truly are a gift. This was so romantic and I can’t wait for Mason’s book.

Happy Ever After isn't a real thing. So what happens when Waylon has to go to LA and Will doesn't go too?
Nothing else matters but this.
Plot: 3/5
Spice: 2/5
Characters: 4/5
Overall reco: It was short and sweet and broke me in all the right ways. Angst dialed up night and high. Short and so fucking good. After Book 2 finished I wasn't done.. wasn't ready to be done with them. I'm not either, but it feels like a better place. I'm hesitant to pick up Mason's book, which feels a bit unfair and while I'm curious what happened there I don't know if I can be in this universe and NOT be with Will/Waylon.

It’s been a while since I read the first two books in this series. I forgot how good they were. Reading this one was like reuniting with old friends. It picks up where the second book, "If There's A Way", ends. The band is in LA, recording their first album, while Will and Ivy are back home running the bar. Waylon is not dealing well with being separated from Will. The long distance relationship is taking a toll on both of them, but especially Way. The book opens with Way having a panic attack after going quite a while without one. Things have gotten better since being with Will, but now they're separated by thousands of miles and the phone is their only lifeline. Fortunately, Will's due to make his first visit to LA. They made a visit schedule before the band left for LA. Being in a large, unfamiliar city and working with a music producer are putting stress on the whole band. Their past demons with addiction are surfacing. It was interesting to see Waylon, Shawn, and Mason deal with their addictions away from their support system. They are all tempted to give in to their old demons, but talk through everything they would be giving up. Way's coming up on one year sober and really wants to get there.
It’s such a beautifully written story with many poetic lines. Everything seems to be coming together for Will and Way. It's the first book where their wasn't a constant love/hate relationship between the two. It was nice to see Waylon accepting who he is. Will delivered one of my favorite lines in the book: “I might love you harder when you’re at your worst, but that’s only because you need it harder then. But my love for you when you’re at your best?” I release a breath, smiling. “It’s unmatched. It consumes me.”
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

I love Will and Way.
I loved their duet.
I thought that I was ready for this little novella and while I did enjoy it and it gave me some emotional emotions while reading. I definitely felt like this short story was a step back for these boys. It seemed like they had dealt with some of these feelings about / within their relationship at the end of the duet. I think I was a little disappointed that the same conversations were being repeated. I think it was nice to see them be vulnerable with each other earnestly. But I wish I could have seen them be secure with each other. Not every vulnerable moment has to be the product of trauma. Which I think was the overall message of the novella. But I think we could have received that message in a clearer or at least a shorter story.
