I read this with my 1st grader. His great grandfather was a holocaust survivor, so he was very into it.

This is the first WWII book I've read that told about Jewish partisans. I liked her choice to introduce readers to those who were fighting back against the Nazis.

I really enjoy in her books how she takes the history and makes it so personal. It seems like we are right there! Highly recommend to learn more about different events in history.

This isn't my favorite of Tarshis' s books, I felt like I didn't get as good of a feel for the event as with the other books. As she points out, though, this is a really big topic to cover in 90 pages.

Back in my "I Survived" era!

I learned a whole lot about Jewish partisans in WWII.
