The perfect read-aloud for Pride month! The strengths are the rhyming text, fun, bright pictures and a nice message.

Bright and bold colorful illustrations work wonderfully to excite readers about an upcoming Pride parade. Not only are the kids in the book preparing for a parade, the book also delves into the story of Pride, giving readers a brief history in rhyming verse. A great choice for families.

'Twas the Night Before Pride is a delightful book that beautifully captures the essence of pride. The story is not only lovely but also serves as a perfect tool for parents and teachers to explain the significance of pride to young children. The engaging illustrations throughout the book add an extra layer of charm, keeping young readers captivated. The descriptive yet simple language ensures that even the youngest of minds can grasp the concept of pride and understand its importance in the lives of many. It's a heartwarming and educational read that sparks conversations about acceptance, diversity, and love.

A queer history and celebration lesson told in the tone of a holiday story. What more could you ask for?

Rhyming and simple text blend with Juana Medina's bright and bold illustrations to create a fun story of Pride. I was surprised and impressed that they managed to squeeze a (very abbreviated) version of how Pride began while still maintaining the rhythm and keeping it accessible for a very young audience.
On this Fourth of July week, the continuing pursuit of freedom and justice and equality under the law in our country is particularly resonant.
