A fantastic twist on a classic holiday story. 'Twas the Night Before Pride celebrates an even more important holiday, one that deserves to be recognised in importance and anticipated for the love and delight that it brings. Preparing for Pride should be just as thoughtful and colourful and anticipatory as this picture book portrays.

When I saw this book it was another must read for us. Being a queer parent and having other queer people in our lives it was a huge must. My daughter really enjoyed this book and wants to go to pride to celebrate :) we did go to a pride when we went on a vacation in April and she was quite upset that the drag prom was for 18+ only lol. She does love RuPaul’s Drag Race as well. I love that it covered most aspects of the LGBTQiA+ community, everyone was represented. I was also super happy to see that my small, conservative (🙄) town library actually has this book and I had to wait for it. That made my heart happy.
I’d obviously recommend this book to everyone.

Text uses the cadence of "T'was the Night Before Christmas," familiar to our family. Inclusive illustrations with lots of detail that deserve to be pored over. The narrator sits with their family before Pride to share the story of how it came to be and what it means to them. Brief, age-appropriate mention of Stonewall. I wish that some back matter had been added to encourage further exploration of the history of Pride celebrations and more history of Stonewall appropriate for upper elementary and middle-grade readers.

Illustrations were created digitally.
