Another solid late-era Grisham. Man am I glad I decided to go back to these. Really tense plotting and I can't remember the last time I got this angry reading a book like this. Sure it's fiction and written with a specific intent in mind, but it really hits hard against the death penalty. This and The Chamber both Grisham books that made me question my own stance on the issue.

An average legal thriller that gets a bit heavy-handed and preachy with the author's point of view. Not that I disagree with said POV - just don't lecture at me.

The first section really moves along and then the second section kicks in. I couldn't believe how mad I was at this book but only 2/3 through it. The last section goes quick as well but that is because you need to see if there is a climax or not....

It was a very good book until the end. I won't say what happens, but it almost seemed as if he was trying to simply end it. I still loved it though and still think it was worth reading.

Another great one by the master of anti capital punishment fiction.

I always liked the wway Grisham writes, it's easy flowing and relazing, even if it presents harsh events. This last one is particulare heavy as it deals with the death penalty...
Anyway, interesting read, though not one of Grisham's best results

Not a subtle message, but nonetheless a valid message about the horrors of capital punishment. As always a page turnmed with believable characters.

Better than I thought it'd be! I should read more Grisham, I'm surprised I haven't before, considering how much I like reading about the depressing clusterfuck that is our criminal justice system.

We enjoyed this as an audiobook on a road trip. Yes, it's a message book, but we agree with the message. We also thought the story was compelling and kept us guessing.

This book explores the concept of the death penalty - a topic very emotionally charged - so I guess I expected more from this book. I found it to be kind of dull and significantly more boring that some of JG's other books.
