Literally SATC but they’re rich and there’s only 3 of them. It makes me dream of being as successful as them sans the problems/ affairs/ drama. But that’s not very realistic. Honestly enjoyed all the main characters and their overall storylines (mostly when they were resolved) and I fear this book has sent me on a Candace Bushnell spiral.

This was a very quick read. While it was entertaining, I found myself annoyed with the characters and what they found important.

It was a "fun" book to read...nothing to take too seriously, it got my mind off of the things going on in my life, so the book did its job ;o)

Sounded interesting, but couldn't keep my attention. Maybe I'll try to read it again soon.

This book was mildly entertaining, but the writer tries too hard to make her characters look independent and fiesty. I like the individual storylines of Nico and Victory, but Wendy's story was predictable and overdone. Victory's story in particular was interesting because she seemed the most realistic and most relatable. What I did like about this novel is how she intertwined three women's perspectives.

Airplane read! Picked this one up because a.) Apollo's Angels was way too damn heavy to bring on a trip and b.) I wanted a light read.
It was light.
I was pleasantly surprised by the number of observations related to gender, money, employment, and the home that were included in this book. Quite often. However, I was disheartened that these observations were still entrenched in gender stereotypes and archaic social norms that pit men and women against each other. Why is it always us vs. them? Why can't it be a thoughtful critique of modern gender roles that includes men and women? Le sigh.
I was also happy to be reading a story where the three main characters are super successful women. However, the definition of success was shockingly limited and the characters were all upper class white women -- I was hoping for a bit more diversity. (I know: it's Candace Bushnell-- what was I thinking?)
My last gripe: the integration of the title into the story. Wayyyy to cutesy for my taste. I love reading a passage and realizing "aaaah, that's where the title comes from..." -- but here, Bushnell whacks us over the head IT'S A LIPSTICK JUNGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET IT? CUZ WE ARE LADIEZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!
Annoying.

Considering how much I like Sex and the City, I thought I would love her other books. Not true at all, I kept trying, but didn't find any of them very thought provoking or interesting!
