This book definitely took you on a roller coaster of adventure, mystery, and conspiracy. Once it set itself up, it took off and started on creepy story.
The book isn't very long and I definitely have a lot more questions than answers, but the lore and the mystery are enough to keep me engaged and wondering what will happen next. Some of the dialogue, visuals, and character designs added for some creepy images in my head. The action was also easy to follow and tense.
While I wasn't as invested in Matt as I should have been (I just don't think he's developed enough yet), but I have to say that Richard was my favourite and I want to see more of him in the future. The villains were quite over the top and made the book even more fun. I can't wait to see who replaces them in the next book!

Rereading because I forgot almost everything and someone said this was a good “introduction to horror” series, but I clearly remember it NOT being horror…and it wasn’t really 😭
Still liked it as much as I did 5 years ago, which is quite a bit

Not as good as I remembered it being as a kid, but I love the idea and premise of this book. Onto the next book in this series!

My friend once recommended this book to me and since then it's one of my favourite series and even after all that time I still enjoy it.

Feels very derivitive to many other series. May or may not read the whole series.

Surprisingly dark for a children's book (lots of deaths), but an enjoyable adventure.
Moderate: Child abuse and Emotional abuse
Minor: Death of parent
