Still found the whole welcoming a “wild” wolf into your home disturbing. And all of the deceit in the beginning of the novel just didn’t sit right. Thought the narration thought was great! Loved the rogue Irish accent

The unnamed cousin appears. But still, I liked this novel. A fun edition to the series.

Books that are more than 20 years old are read with different eyes and different thoughts.

Enchanted is a nice story about destiny and where your choices may take you.

However, what was ok to write about 20 years definitely is not ok in 2020. Scenes where a man slips into a woman's bedroom as a shapeshifter and watches her bathe and be naked are not just laughable by old standards. They are to be held up as voyeurism and question what it means to consent. Scenes where the man practically rapes the woman and she tells him it's ok when he apologizes? Not ok in 2020. It belies again the question of intent, consent, and rationalizing victimhood.

While I can appreciate the story for 1999 standards, it was a tough read in 2020.

I love this series!!!! Love the little glimpse back into the original 3 couples of this story in this book. I also love the exploring of one's power both magical and personal that happens in this story. Rowan doesn't just find out she is a witch, she finds herself

I don’t usually enjoy writing reviews for books I don’t immensely enjoy- but this is the first time I’ve read a Nora Roberts book that I didn’t like.

*spoilers ahead*

HOW CREEPY IS LIAM. HELLO HE IS LITERALLY (in wolf form) IN BED, IN THE BATHROOM WATCHING HER NAKED AND LICKING HER.
This is some next level Twilight pervert bullshit.

Also he’s invading her dreams at night, but gaslighting her in the day? Seriously wtf? Liam is one of the worst male protagonists I’ve ever encountered- he’s a male chauvinist who has literally taken choice after choice away and then tries to mansplain why he’s done it.

I’m honestly a bit heartbroken that Nora created this kind of character and tagged this horrible book to the end of what was going to be a lovely series.

The only highlight was seeing the Donovan cousins towards the end of the book.

I love Nora Roberts, but this one dragged on. Her magical stories have come so far since this one, and it just felt like there wasn’t much to the plot. I also didn’t love how quickly and easily everything was resolved after the heroine stood up to the hero just once for like 5 min.

sooo… i liked the idea of the book and the world in it. i sympathized with fmc maybe a bit too much. but i really didn’t like mmc. he manipulated and gaslighted fmc for 90% of the book. at the end after he broke her heart with “break up” trope, his mommy went to fmc and asked her to come back to her son bc he was hurting.
