I see young adult novel goes this book was very well done. It is definitely a Coming of Age romance story. The main character goes through things such as difficult relationship with a parent and relationship with others. At times I found myself frustrated with the lack of communication between characters but I guess that's how life is. I wish there had been a little more substance to the romance as it seemed even though prominent to kind of be a subplot. Overall a good teen read or a good quick read for adults.

The beginning of this book focuses on the death of Macy's father and how she and her family cope with that loss, and a poor relationship with my own father had me feeling a disconnect to the story for a while. I considered dnfing, but I'm glad I persisted. Once the book shifts to Macy rediscovering herself, I really enjoyed going on that journey with her as she finds the job with Wish catering and makes new friends. This feels like a story of coming to terms with life and who you are rather than living up to other people's expectations of you. Macy's love story takes time to end satisfactorily, but I loved the ending.

it's amazing that I still have this whole story committed to memory
Moderate: Death and Death of parent
the whole story basically revolves around Macy and her family recovering from her father's death that happened before the book starts
