Thank God for Sarah Dessen! I'm so glad I picked up this book I think it just pulled me out of a 2 month reading slump and I'm ready to read some more books! Loved this book and the characters! Short and sweet!

“There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment."
The first time I read The Truth About Forever was about four years ago and it still is one of my favorite books I've ever read. I love almost everything about it. I love Macy, Wes, Kristy, the whole Wish family. Of course, I can't stand Macy's library co-workers. While Jason is a good guy, he is clueless when it comes to relationships, while Macy's mom is clueless about reading her daughters feelings.
This is about Macy trying to be perfect after her fathers sudden death because she blames herself for not being there and she wants to constantly be in control. Fortunately for her, Wish comes along and flips her world upside down.
Wes and his younger brother, Bert, are also dealing with a death of a parent. Macy and Wes constantly play Truth whenever they are together and he is the only one who knows some of her darkest secrets. Macy finally wins the game when she kisses Wes and my heart melts everytime during that scene.
I love love love love love this book.

There are a lot of things to like about this book. The characters, for one thing, are all pretty individual and cool on their own, from Macy's boss, to her love interest and his brother, to her mother and sister.
The actual story itself was refreshing - the focus is not only on Wesley and Macy and the progression of their relationship. The story shifts between conflict with Macy's family in the aftermath of her father's death, the struggle Macy has with her boyfriend, who pushes her to do things she doesn't want to and be someone she's not, and the chaotic world of catering and Wesley himself.
I found Wesley and Macy reminded me a lot of Heathcliff and Catherine, if Catherine had chosen Heathcliff over Edgar. In the story, Jason is Macy's Edgar, safe, easy, and "good" in the eyes of her mother, who sees Jason as a part of Macy's steady life. Wesley is Macy's Heathcliff, the boy she wants to be with but can't for so many reasons. Luckily for everyone involved, Macy doesn't mess up as badly as Catherine did.
I gave this book a three out of five star rating because while I enjoyed reading it, I won't be reading it again or recommending it to any of my friends.

At first I wasn't really sure how I'd feel about this book. I ended up loving it. I just loved all the characters and how we really go to know. I loved how Macy evoled throughout the book. I Loved pretty much everything about Kritsty,Bert's sweet nerdiness & Monica and how she finally said a senetce. Liked how Macy's mom finally learned to cool it and how Caroline was just Caroline. Finally onto Wes , ahh he was amazing & totally swoon worthy ! I loved how he & Macy started off friends & their feelings just grew from there. Ah ,overall amazing book.

It's actually more like 3.5 :P
The start was pretty slow for me, and it took 200 pages (I have no idea how I managed to pull through that) for me to get interested in this book. However, once the themes of changes clicked in, and Macy started to become happier, I kept on reading to see her develop.
I liked how Dessen wrote about conflicts due to grief and a vision of perfectness. This book did pass on some important messages to which is vital for life. Macy's changes through the later part of this book are what made me add an additional .5 star. It was interesting to see her thoughts and decisions and how they affected all the things that were happening around her.
I'm glad that this book didn't completely let me down. I'm glad the ending was good. I adored pretty much all the chaotic Wish crew in this book. They were such amazing characters!
Anyways, this is an okay YA Contemporary half-romance. (Half because I personally wanted to see even more of Wes and Macy.)
Hope you enjoy The Truth About Forever if you decide to read this book!

Sarah Dessen rarely writes phenomenal books, but she does write consistently good ones. I'm glad I can always pick one up during a reading slump, comfortable in the knowledge that I'm not going to pitch her book out the window in frustration. This book was the usual, never blowing me away, yet I never found my attention wavering, and the hours I spent in this book were pleasant. May my next book experience be just as good.

The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen is a heartwarming story about finding the people who lift you up and overcoming grief with family and friends. Every time I read this story I am reminded of why I fell in love with romances, because of this story. I love watching Macy come out of her shell as she hangs out with her friends from Wish catering. The way that Macy, her sister, and mother all deal with the loss of their father/husband is something that I feel like many people can relate to. Grief is expressed in so many different ways and these three work to find a way to connect with each other in their shared trauma. I appreciated the slow mutual friendship that leads to crush level intimacy between Macy and Wes. I think Wes is definitely the book boyfriend that all I set many other book friends against. He "bad boy" past, tattoo, artist talent, and loyal and caring nature are defiantly my cat nip. The Truth About Forever will forever be my favorite gate-way book into romance!
