The four stars is more for the series than any of the individual books. The scenes particularly come to life in this episode...or should that be death? This series is fun and has more depth than expected. Bronson Pinchot does an exceptionally good job narrating the audio version.

Pure fun, incredibly creative... Well-deserving of its Hugo nomination.

an enjoyable book and series. I think it would make a good tv series.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first two books in the trilogy. The political commentary felt forced and the lack of character development bothered me. The character's personalities felt mostly absent, mainly because there was so little interaction between characters. Everyone was too busy reaching the next power level.

The trilogy was enjoyable though. These books are like action movies, so if you go in expecting anything profound you'll be disappointed. They're cheesy as hell, extremely violent, and filled with witty banter. It's the kind of thing you read when you want to turn off your brain and have fun.

Very satisfying conclusion to this series. Bronson Pinchot does a fantastic narration; it you get a chance to listen to the Audible, it’s well worth it.

Faye learns the final pieces she needed as the spellbound. Jake kicks some more ass and finds a friend in Toru. They all kick some alien ass. Fun stuff.

If Pinchot narrates Monster Hunter series, I’m definitely there.

Took a bit to get into (as I didn't read the first two) but not bad. Read for Hugo awards.

I enjoyed this serie's story arc. The ending brought is aspects of the other books that I was not expecting. I'd recommend this series to anyone who enjoys Alternative History stories.

This is the third book in this series, and, as it turns out, it is like all third books in trilogies. Ultimate showdown of underdog versus crazy powerful baddie (Frodo vs Sauron). Overwhelming odds against a scrappy band of heroes.

So, while this doesn't break new literary ground, it is a fun, crazy read. The author keeps the story moving, wraps up all the loose ends, and doesn't bring in new weirdness but builds on the weirdness he carefully wrote in the first two books.

It's still a bit of Raymond Chandler meets X-Men, but this time with some LOTR theme thrown in.
