If License to Chill was fast paced and slapstick, this second book in the series tipped over into chaotic and slightly manic. Too many new (slightly unhinged) characters, to add to the original cast of super spies, retired super spies, former villains and of course, Umbra. And while the characters and their dynamic in book 1 were warm and endearing, book 2 shows the more unattractive sides of their characters - Vi and Russell are self-centred in their own ways, Easter seems to spend most of the book screaming.

Suitable for: UKS2
Themes: spies, adventure, crime, family, injury
Vi Spy is a story about a young girl who is training to be a spy. Her family are spies too and they work together to unmask Umbra, an evil spy who is planning on controlling everyone with a device called The Neurotrol.
This book is the second in the series. I haven’t read the first book but that didn’t matter because the story is told through snippets throughout so I never felt unsure or like I had missed anything. That being said, I will be reading the first book as I liked this one so much.
I was gifted this book as part of a giveaway on Twitter, by the publishers Chicken House, but was not asked to review it as part of this giveaway. I just loved it!

A fun book about spy's, saving the world and navigating divorced parents and step families.
The story continues with Vi at spy school and Umbra still at large, Vi isn't doing too well at school and feels like she is disappointing her mum, so she once again goes rogue to try to save the world herself.
