I am soooooo sad.... I'm giving this more of a 4.5 because of all the sadness that I delt with during this book between Anna and Kaiden.... I hope that gets better throughout this trilogy.... I don't even know the conflicts are going to be resolved, but I'm so excited to find out *spoilers* so I LOVE KAIDEN! I love his name, I love who he is, and I just want to give him a hug so bad! He doesn't deserve to have this happen to him, Anna doesn't deserve it either. They need to conquer the demons and be allowed to be together gah!

I had heard many amazing things about this series and after the release of "Sweet Temptation" I decided to give the series a try.
Needless to say, I finished all four books in one week! And suffered from a small book addicition withdrawal.
So, Anna is a sweet Southern girl who lives with her adoptive mother and her life is quite normal, except from her ability to see peoples' auras as bright or dark colors around them. Her ability is actually pretty cool until the moment she meets Kaidan Rowe drummer of a popular band and son of...a demon lord.
The first book mostly takes place in the move as Anna and Kaidan try to learn more about her origins and why she is different than the other children of Demons. There was great deal of backstory here and quite the hype in the emotions. My only comment would be that Kaidan and Anna fell too quickly in love but I'll not give you details as a loyal no-spoiler reviewer! ;)
In the second book Anna will find her purpose and she will become stronger and braver. Only Kaidan proves to be a little stupid in his actions but the rest of the cast of the other characters fills amazingly the story with their backstories and funny moments.
And finally in the third book we have the battle of good and evil, with a slight touch of some very, very happy moments and some very sad ones. What I loved most in the series was Anna. She is a sweet, kind girl but that not makes her stupid or so doe eyed she can't move around. She has wits, bravery and a strong sense of justice which I adore in a YA heroine!
"Sweet Temptation" is a companion novel written from Kaidan's POV and includes all the first trhee books. Some of his actions are explained and his time away from Anna is also told. I liked that as an extra and if you want to have some more of this series then it is recommended.

This was a super random read for me. It's one of those books that was on my TBR for years and I finally read it on a whim and flew through it. It was so fun and the concept was really unique. I actually loved it! It still has a lot of the typical YA tropes of its day, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story. Especially since I was reading it years after it was published, it felt fresh compared to the current YA landscape. Definitely going to continue on with this series; it was super addictive.

"Sweet Evil" by Wendy Higgins, the first book in the Sweet series, is a captivating and addictive start to an unforgettable series that fully deserves its five-star rating. This enchanting installment introduces readers to a world of intrigue, supernatural beings, and a forbidden romance that will leave you craving for more.
Wendy Higgins effortlessly draws readers into the story with her immersive world-building and compelling storytelling. Set in a world where angels, demons, and Nephilim exist, the narrative follows a strong-willed and relatable protagonist who discovers her unique heritage and embarks on a journey of self-discovery and dangerous secrets.
The forbidden romance element in "Sweet Evil" is both alluring and heart-wrenching. Wendy Higgins masterfully creates tension and chemistry between the main characters, making their connection feel electric and impossible to resist. The inner turmoil and conflicting emotions experienced by the protagonist add depth and complexity to the romance, keeping readers hooked and invested in their journey.
The characterization in this book is superb. The protagonist is a well-rounded and compelling character, with flaws, strengths, and a relatable voice that draws readers in. The supporting characters are equally well-developed, each with their own distinct personalities and motivations. Their interactions and relationships bring an added layer of depth to the story, creating a rich tapestry of emotions and connections.
Wendy Higgins' writing style is engaging, evocative, and filled with emotion. Her descriptive prose brings the settings to life, immersing readers in a world where the supernatural and the human realms collide. The pacing is well-balanced, with a perfect blend of action, mystery, and moments of quiet introspection. Woah! I had hear a lot of great things about this book: how amazing the writing style, how amazing the angel lore, how amazing the story was and uhemmm...how AMAZING Kaidan was. Now, I'd be lying if I said I didn't buy this book because of Kaidan, cus that is exactly why I bought it. I was feeling the need of a hot steamy romance with a bad boy to fill the plot and guys....I got that and SO much more!
First off...teens that lives depend on being bad...literally?? Dude...that is awesome! So so wrong but totally awesome haha The characters in this book are all well written and even though these guy's souls are damned...they are sweet and naturally good people...I have my doubts on evil twin but in some parts even she shined through. I loved each character and Man! I really don't know what to say. This is one of those reviews that the book is so good you can't help but your review to be a bunch of "!!!!"'s, "OMG"'s, and "LOVE"'s. Wendy Higgins did a fenominal job with creating a book that enthralls readers from the very begging and keeps them reading until the very last word. I didn't want this book to end...especially with the way it did. She created a fun, seductive, but utterly clean...to a point ;D...book that I loved! I am going to want to read this book over and over!
Plus! I loved the true morals an Biblical stuff she put into it. I loved Anna's pure heart and what she was willing to do for the ones she loved. She is so sweet and I loved her! And Kaidan!! Holy sh** peoples!! Goodness was this boy hot?? Ya, he was hotter than Hell itself! Dang!!! And I also loved Kope!! He is...*sighs* I was voting for him even though I knew I shouldn't have but he is so nice and sweet and .....Idk I wanted him to....but Kaiden.....Ya, I'm screwed when it comes to those boys! I loved the ...well I just loved everybody and everything! There is seriously no ending to the level of love and awesomeness this book oozed!
Sweet Evil is a great debut from Wendy Higgins. This book will have your blood boiling, heart racing, hormones out of control ;D and your mind boggling from the pure amazingness! I loved this book so hard its not even funny. This book indeed have great writing and a story that is so great you are left only wanting more. And seriously!! Book two hasn't already been snagged by a publisher? HELLO!!! *smacks every publisher alive* What the hell are you guys doing? You people are dumb bunnies if you don't see the talent. You all should be begging on your hands and knees and fighting it all out to have a chance of putting your publishing name on this book! (Please do not be offended my dear publishers....I am only hugely surprised. I do not mean what I said about dumb bunnies and smacking you in offense) hahaha
Seriously you guys! If you haven't read this yet...please do so! You will love it from beginning to end! With amazing characters, a steamy romance with pure heart, bad ass teens, and the most awesome fallen angel lore around.....you have no choice but to love it!

Sweet Evil is the epitome of everything on what I hate on books.
Annoying main characters, Anna is perfection but she doesn't know it and has 00000000% self esteem, Kaidan is a brooding man slut and basically I got a fair share amount of Anna reminding herself on every page of the book that Kaidan is hott(yes with extra t because Kaidan is extra worthy.)
Predictable. Bullshit. Idiotic. Cheesy. Unoriginal. Boring. Dropped."-Anzu The Great Destroyer
