For some reason I was expecting this to be a vampire novel based on the cover. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasnt.

RATING: 2.5 stars.
How did this start so promising and ended up so... ugh. Well, lame I guess. Ana could have been so much more if she wasn't such a Mary Sue, too-good-to-exist. >__>

Sweet Evil offers a refreshing paranormal read that deals with angels and demons. Judging by the concept that demons can father children, it's already obvious that the novel will be intriguing; the world we're introduced to is so complex and the characters are well fleshed-out. Although there's certainly a lot of romance and angst, with a well-written relationship between Anna and Kaiden, the plot felt a little weak. Yes, I was amazed that a road trip across the country could become so interesting, but I felt like there needed to be a little bit of a stronger plot--maybe more action? However, I'm definitely excited for the sequel!

One of the worst YA romances I've ever read. In the likes of Hush Hush or Lux. Which I both hated with the passion of a thousand burning suns. Actually no, this one is even worse than Lux.
Anna may have been nive beyond believe - the most aggrevating fact was how much her innocence was glorified in comparison to Kaidan's nonexistent one. You know what I'm talking about, it's the good girl/bad boy archetype again (in this case meaning virgin/man whore trope ugh) but it was just so uneaven, glorified and romanticized. I didn't like it one bit - but it's Kaidan who I absolutely could not stand the most. He was a terrible love lead, if I can even call him that.
There was only one bright side to this mess and that's the fact that the paranormal world building wasn't always too shabby.

Review: Sweet Evil is one of the best books I've read this year! I've heard so many good things about Sweet Evil and I expected to like it but never did I imagine falling in love with this book.
From the very first page I was hooked and had some serious problems putting this book down for one minute. I loved everything about this book, even the sad parts that mad me want to cry. Anna is probably one of the most innocent characters I've ever read. Shes's really honest and so GOOD, it almost seemed too good to be true.
Kaidan is definitely the boy your daddy warned you about. He's sex and temptation rolled into one. He's so seductive and hot it's almost impossible for any girl to say no to him, even Anna. But what I really loved about Kaidan is that deep down he's a really good guy who desperately wants to do the right things.
I also loved how each Nephilim is given a certain sin they are to focus on. The role for these angels is to influence humans to do bad things instead of stop them. And if you don't do your job? Let's just say you're a dead man. The angel dukes are very strict and scary; and disobeying them isn't an option. I felt really bad for Anna and all of the other Nephilim because they don't have a say in their own life and have to do things they don't want to. Bad things.
Sweet Evil is a must read! It's possibly the best angel book out there right now, and that's really something considering how popular angels have become recently. Well worth you're money and time, you won't be disappointed!

GAH WAS THIS ANGSTY OR WHAAT?
•○●○•○●○•
TO SUM IT UP: This book was GREAT.
I found that with each page it just improved so much. I've never seen an author's book improve in this way as it went on. Her writing style was so easy and addictive and just overall relaxing to read. I found myself constantly looking forward to opening the story and reading it.
OKAY THAT ROMANCE THO????
HOLY FRACK IT WAS H-O-T HOT
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
Kaiden: (ky-den) is the son of lust and if that doesn't say something, I don't know what does.
Anna: hers is a little complicated, but interesting, so check it out and see for yourself!!
I docked .5 ☆ because the introduction of a second love interest was pretty useless and I think that seeing her grow without a man would've made this even more enjoyable, a favorite even. The dynamic just felt so random and forced.

I hate to leave a book unfinished, so I powered through it.
Anna Whitt, newly minted sixteen year old living in Georgia with her adoptive mother. Life as she knows it is about to get far more strange. Not only does she have the ability to sense people's aura's but she soon discovers secrets about her past that push her into a spiral of understanding who she is.
When she meets the dark and mysterious Kaiden, Anna knows there is something different about him. And she is right. He helps introduce her to the strange world of angels and demons, Nephilim. And they embark on a cross-country road trip together so Anna can get the answers she so desperately desires.

Um. Well. There was nothing inherently wrong with the writing, really. But it just felt like the pacing was all over the place, Anna's character felt too "Mary Sue" even though I know that the author was trying to draw in the angel/demon dynamic into Anna's character, but it just wasn't working. specially when her character development just felt rushed and not at all there.
Kaiden is the typical bad boy romance partner. Meh.
I feel like character interaction and development could have been better. I wanted more drama, especially when Anna meets her father. I think it could have made for more intensity in the final chapters of the book and given a larger pull to understand what was really going on. As it was, the ending felt a bit ... less involved with Anna herself and her journey as a character.
Overall, the book was fine. Really. But I just couldn't get behind the lore of it all. And the ending was so unsatisfactory and awkward.

Well..........after being in a state of shock and total heartache for about half an hour after finishing this book, i am finally ready to write a review and all i can say is...............AS IF IT ENDED LIKE THAT!!!!!
Sweet evil was captivating from the start, stealing me from the real world to Higgins world where a new and thrilling spin on what it means to be an angel, demon or nephilim.
Anna and Kaidan's relationship was so enticing that i was feeling every emotion Anna was. You can tell they have a deep connection and a strong hold over one another, influencing each other to feel things they haven't before, I was in tears with how it ended.
I loved how Anna grew throughout the book and never lost sight of the good within her, i was especially thankful her father did not turn out to be the master of all evil Duke's, instead proving that their is hope for the evil ones to feel love.
Which bring me to Kaidan......and yep, he's definitely the sexy bad boy your daddy warns you about but you just can't help but fall hard anyways.....especially with that accent! I hated how Kaiden struggled with his feelings in this book and how even though he never admitted anything, you could tell he just wanted to protect Anna. He's a very mysterious character and as the book is not in his point of view, you don't get to see how he's really feeling and what he's really going through. I'm praying we get to explore more of him in the next book and he's not taken away for most of it, i just don't think i could survive if i could!!!
After reading this book, I will most definitely be checking every day for any detail on the next one as i am officially hooked on the Sweet series!!!
