Really well told story of loss and love and family and friendship and pain and joy, all through the lives of modern day Sami in northern Sweden.

Jättebra bok. Man fick mycket att tänka på. Att människor kan vara såna svin. Och varför behandlar vi varandra så hemskt? Handlingen är både bra, spännande och informativ.

A dark, slow and beautifully written book. I loved the details about Sami culture and reindeer herding through the perspectives of the different characters in the story. The ending was quite satisfying and hopeful.

Otrolig bok - stundtals så jobbig att läsa, men värd obehaget. Spännande, rörande och välskriven. Och sjukt jävla viktig.

What’s an interesting way to learn of the Sami reindeer herding culture! Elsa’s trauma at the age of 9 shaped her life of fear for herself, her extended family, and her beloved reindeer. It moved slowly at the beginning, but that was necessary for me to engage with this ancient culture in modern times - so different from mine. I learned that the name I had been taught in school as a child is completely a very negative term that should never used. Mental health problems in a culture so under attack was well discussed. A good mystery type story from factual and personal reports. Hope this author writes another novel.
