A very interesting and sobering view of the chaos in the whitehouse during the first Trump presidency.

The shock for me here, was that by the end I realized that I knew it all. That Trump has so completely dominated the media during all these years, that through 700 pages there were almost no new revelations for me is frightening. The beauty of this book is that it sets his entire clown show in order and allows one to sit back and just take in and ponder the sheer quantity of ineptness, dishonesty, cruelty, rasism, respectlessness, lying and deceitfulness, not to mention the downright criminal behavior involved with this administrations handling of Covid 19, Ukraine and Putin, the 2020 election and of course the Capital riot. This is an important historical document that will provide a fine record of this most loathesome period.

Unfortunate that this is what the presidency has come to, and that we keep coming back to this deplorable insurrectionist. Very revealing exposé on the first Trump presidency. It got dry at times, and there were a lot of names to keep track of due to the high turnover rate of his administration, but I learned what I wanted to about the inner workings (if you can call it working) of his presidency.
Unfortunately, this was a timely read. To our detriment, he has learned from his first term mistakes and surrounded himself with sycophants for a second term.

Don’t feel fair rating this as I skimmed it. It’s a tome, probably the most thorough look at the Trump presidency. Didn’t learn a lot that wasn’t already known (a trend with these books) but to see it all in one narrative reminds you of how obvious it was all along that this presidency wasn’t going to end well.

Great book by two journalists covering Trump's first term. If you had brain and access to media between 2016-2021, many of the actual events will be familiar, but this book does a great job at structuring those news stories around the actions (and inactions) of those working in federal government and how they interacted with Trump. Great structuring of how an inadequate boss that enjoyed it when his employees fought leads to complete mayham and discord. So many people that eagerly backed him up, only to find that he really is an egotistic maniac that would throw you aside for just one more moment in the spotlight.

I'm not sure that we need another book about Trump.
There are a million books telling us how much of a shit-show the Trump years were and this is just another one of them.
Unfortunately, the people who need to read this information:
1. Won't read this book.
2. Will read it, but not believe it.
3. Are illiterate.

Shows the disgusting nature of the grifting bastard. And, of course, members of his cult of personality vote him back in to rob the country blind.
