The Best of Us is book 2 in the Love in Isolation series by Kennedy Fox. Although it is considered a standalone I highly recommend reading it in order since it follows not only the main characters but it heavily focuses on the couple of book 1 in the end.
This story is about Cami‘s brother Ryan who is a Doctor and in serious need of a vacation after working to no end during the pandemic that finally is under control after years and her best friend Kendall who‘s had a crush on Ryan since forever. They were supposed to go to the cabin to prepare for Cami and Eli‘s honeymoon when a snowstorm hits the town and they are forced to spend many days together.
I enjoyed Kendall and Ryans story. It was very very steamy and entertaining. They are so different from eachother but you know how the saying goes. They quickly find their routine during their unexpected holiday in the cabin and fall in love pretty fast but if you‘re stuck together 24/7 it is expected.
It was a great addition to the series but in the end I sadly got a little bit annoyed with the amount of „Happy ending“. I personally could‘ve done with a few chapters less about it but there are alot of people who enjoy it.

hehe we love a best friend's brother romance.
this was such a fun one to read. i absolutely loved how straightforward kendall was towards ryan about her crush on him. i think that this was such a good opposites attract romance book. the banter was top tier, and i loved how dreamy ryan was. i loved that we got to see more layers of him and his past- and how that has impacted him in how he views himself when it comes to dating and knowing what a woman he cares about deserves. this was a super quick read for me filled with laughter, spice, and emotions and i am SO happy that ryan and kendall got their HEA!
four and a half stars / three chili peppers
tropes:
- best friend's brother
- opposites attract
- forced proximity

I'm seriously loving Kennedy Fox's backlist! I was excited to read Kendall and Ryan's story next and loved how the author set up the story in the epilogue of the book before.
It was so interesting to see Ryan and Kendall slowly learn more about each other when they were stranded from a huge snow storm. What Ryan thought he knew about Kendall turned out to be all wrong and he actually started liking what he saw. I admired the confidence in Kendall in this book for going after what she wanted. I'm excited to keep reading this series and more of this author's backlist!
